Alpha 3.7 has been released <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' /> i thought about releasing it at alpha 3.9 but seeing how 3.7 was such a major difference (that took me hours to get right) i thought i better release this build before i continue, lol

some bugs have been fixed but the most notable changes in this version are the automatic updater that runs at startup (currently it forces users to upgrade however in the next version i will change that so you dont have to upgrade in future cause i can see that being an issue.

adaeras lovely icons have been added in the toolbar too and ill add the last one when its done <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' /> also the runtime pack has been upgraded with some new files you may need in this build.

(If you have visual basic 6 runtime files and WMP 10 then you should have all the runtimes you require.

the most notable update is it has an MP3 and radio tuner!, most people like to listen to music while they work so ive added one in, the playlist gets the tracks from a folder (which is default to my music however u can change this in the options menu) and you can change how the tracks play there as well, your probably wondering why i used WiMP, well its cause of the radio feature, WMP supports direct url streaming which u cant do very easily without using a control, but it looks good, it works quite well and now when killanet radio gets launched again i can allow it to connect to the stations <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

next build other then add the bit into the auto updater im going to add a news system and get premium services working plus a welcome message into the program, more details of that when its done, lol

thanks ive got the final list together of whats going to be in the next build, Alpha 3.9 (lots of small changes and bits and pieces done to it but it will improve the automatic updater, the mp3 player and make the program run better, plus it adds some new features mainly the news ticker tape system), the focus will be on getting the automatic updater not to force upgrades, having all our own icons used so its totally KN made and making all of the additions above plus some more and getting all the bugs out of the system, lol

last one...not really pleased with it but I'll work on my icon skills and make you some better ones at a later date or I'll work on another one tonight after dinner

hmmm MP3 player.... please don't tell me you're using Windows Media for that? lol

or make your own

WiMP = comes in all versions of windows, supports url streaming and uses only one dll

RealOne = requires an extra 15mb worth of runtimes, is slower and uses multiple ocx files

make your own = no extra runtimes, supports ONLY mp3 and not wma which many paid services use such as napster. and does not support url streaming

the most compatible and the only one which will work for all users and supports url streaming is windows media player.

Alpha 3.9 has just been released, its main focus is on fixing many of the bugs in the program, the last icon that ada made for me (thx ada <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... >/good.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(Y)\' />) is now added, there are more dialogs asking if you are sure to some of the more delecate actions giving you more power over the interface, new items include the new really cool news ticker tape system which displays recent news, and if u click on the link it takes you directly to the item, you can now hide the mp3 player and the news item from the sidebar as well in the options menu, other then that and some minor changes you can edit your startup page (which some people will find useful), and there is a new tab in the options menu with some stuff you can edit. <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

the next version... Alpha 4.0 will have the Add/Remove services tab working and will have the sidebar added, its a major feature so its going to be a whole subversion in itself, lol
