Happy Birthday Baby

It was sixty years ago when Baby was born in a Manchester, UK lab. Designed to be the successor of ENIAC (USA) and Colossus (UK), Baby was the first computer which could store a programme, process data and perform various tasks without having to be rebuilt. The "Small Scale Experimental Machine" filled almost the entire lab.

Could this be where the saying "you've come a long way, Baby" came from? Because you have to admit, from room-sized to microscopic-sized, the power of computing has definitely come a very long way.
