Secure Image is recommended image protection for images such as those used to display portfolios of artworks and photographs in quality high resolution. It enables complete protection against bandwidth theft and the unauthorized linking of images from other websites. \"Right click\" saving of image files and direct downloading to the hard disk is impossible with Secure Image - it is also safe from MSExplorer 5 page saving as it prevents direct linking to your images and is a sure safeguard against search and grab applications that can be used to obtain almost any file on a web site in minutes. Will Pro work in all browsers?
Images encrypted by the Pro version can be viewed in all popular browsers on both PC and Mac computers. Pro uses a special image encryption that is supported in browsers as early as Netscape version 3.0 on both platforms.
Just how easy is it to copy images on the net?
Too easy! With the mouse anyone can \"right click\" and copy to the clipboard or save to their hard disk. They could copy your whole website within minutes. There are now far too many \"grab it\" type applications available that will help them download your whole website automatically. Some of these are available for free and will create a directory of all the images and html pages sitting on a server. All the culprit has to do is click on a file in the directory that the application creates and the web page or image file can be downloaded to their browser. Then there is MSoft Explorer, with one click all of the page\'s content can be downloaded and neatly saved to a folder including the background tiles.
I have many images on my site, it sounds like a lot of work.
Not all of them may need protecting. However the converter has been designed for ease of use whether encoding a single image or 100 images. To process a batch the images are first loaded into the directory using multi file selection and can be converted in batches with a single click of the button. Secure Image will encrypt thousands of images with just one click.
What Security does Pro offer?
As well as the obvious features such as prevention of direct saving, etc., each registered site has a unique key so that the image may only be seen from the protected site. The images cannot be viewed from anywhere else and are safe on your server. They are not obtainable by direct or indirect means... only by viewing the image from your page and from within the applet viewer. Spiders, grab applications and programs such as Xenu and Teleport Pro that search a site and provide a report of all the linked content cannot locate the the Java and data files associated with the images.
No evidence of the source paths can be found in the page source, the Java console output or any where else. The paths, parameters and sources for these files can only be located by the ArtistScope applet using the key from its own domain.
What is the difference between the Pro version and 2.1?
2.1 is a little faster loading being based on the latest Java versions. Unfortunately many of the features are not available in Mac Java sources and there is no support for Mac browsers with images converted using 2.1. Mac computer uses are predominantly used in the advertising industry and only make up for about 2% of the public surfing the web. Pro will encrypt more than 3,000 images with a single click.
Pro is designed for commercial photographers and the advertising industry. The images converted using Pro are visible to all browsers on both PC and Mac computers providing Java is enabled. Pro is only a new release and the first time that image encryption for the Internet has been offered to Mac users.
What about problems with some sites not using the www prefix?
Whether your site is registered with or without the \"www\", both links are accepted as legal calls.
Pro uses new encryption to support both PC and Mac computers. It includes all of the features found in v2.1 above plus several different display effects for the image and support for www discrepancies. License - US$85 ($45 for extra domain/alias).
Multi-user Registration
Secure Image 2.1 and 3.0 both have the capacity to use the one program for publishing and encrypting images for use on several registered domains. The initial registration will give you a master key for encryption. Then as each subsequent site is registered they are added to a special domain file so that Pro viewers can all share the same key and still be able to be Domain Locked to the site. Once the Secure Image program is registered each extra site will only cost US$45. Be sure to nominate the program that you are using - the codes are different for each version.
Evaluation
You can test ArtistScope on your own site by downloading an evaluation copy. When convinced you can register online to be emailed the registration code which sets the Domain Lock and opens the message display areas and hyperlinks. The demo is unlimited distribution in its original format which means you can pass it on to your friends and associates for them to try.
