i followed a tutorial found through good-tutorials.com which linked me to this tutorial: [url=\"http://www.good-tutorials.com/track/1554\"]http://www.good-tutorials.com/track/1554[/url] . the title for it is bloody tentacles. it took me a good day and a half to figure out some of the commands.....apparently not hitting the shift key in photoshop makes a BIG difference lol.
anyway, the final piece i think turned out pretty well - not as brilliant as the tutorial example, but after having lost the work several times i'm reasonably confident i could figure out how to do it again. i might try doing another one and adding slime to it next time.
the only problem i had was changing the background color to a gradient....i'll get there though.
so im posting the whole finished image and the banner it made.

looks good to me, nemmy. On the banner looking one, why does it look like it has some poor image quality? /unsure.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':unsure:\' /> /unsure.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':unsure:\' /> :\

i put the main image into paint shop , cropped and flipped it around. i hadnt noticed the difference in quality before, thanks josh. guess thats another thing i need to learn to do in photoshop! lol
after looking at them again, i definitley want to do a variation on the original to come up with something i can say is original lol

its a bad image quality because its saved as a .gif /bigwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' /> [/color]

Ok you did a good job on that one but you made a mistake in one of your tentacles. Also try applying a bit more bevel to create a more 3d kinda thing. But GJ /good.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(Y)\' />

the only time that saving .gif\'s = bad image quality was because MSPaint did it lol

lol, well ruff, thats quite a reply there! lol.........i was curious what tibs meant though , and wasnt at all offended. he might be referring to the largest tentacle, which does look slightly blotchy in places, but thats simply because i made it rather big.
anyhoo. thanks again all.....if i make any more variations on this image i'll post them here......eventually im going to get round to a slimy green one, i hope!

lol, thanks tibs, no offense taken whatsoever.......but the next time you spot something like this dont leave me hanging, just tell me so i dont flip out trying to figure it out lol.......thanks for taking such a close look at the pic to notice it.
btw....couldnt your circle and arrow been a little more inventive? i mean, there are neon flashing colors available-like pink!
