I will make my apology first; im sorry for not posting and making the forum aware, as i think i said i would and forgot too, we all make mistakes.

I was the one who put forward this idea to disable them for certain areas of the forum, and yes it was dicussed among the admins of the forum, with action taken on the decission decided. The reason and decission was appropriate for those areas as yes, although worthy posts, these areas are constantly being posted in, which is great, and shouldnt discourage anyone for posting in these areas at all. But when you go look back on posts made, you see the views column, with \"1\" view for so many posts, its obvious that news either no one saw, or no one cared about. These areas are constantly being posted in, obviously because there is new gaming and tech news daily, but as agreed there were many posts being made everyday. I dont think its that big an issue really, if your here for the post count, then well, sorry thats quite stupid because surely we mean more then some insignificant number that relates to nothing but insignifigance. So once again, sorry for not posting and making you aware of this act, though I and others agreed it was not a big deal.

Not trying to start a fight here, but we also need to remember that since "Post to Play" has been put into effect, this number is no longer insignificant, infact for anyone wishing to use the arcade, it is detrimental that they make 2 posts outside of gaming or tech news. This is true, but we are heading for a news and gaming site, though also notice the key posters in those forums, you (gaming) and ruff, and i know you dont play the arcade, hence why i dont think its a major issue, if our member list had a sudden surge of posts being made in gaming/tech forums, then it would be changed.

I don't think it's really a big issue, members should be more concerned with the content and quality of their posts, rather than their amounts.

I never found it to be a big deal... Right now if post counts were enabled in there mobes and ruff would have at least 50,000 posts... Quite extreme if you ask me. Post count doesn\'t matter anyway

What I would like to know is that if some of you don't care about post counts then why do you think not counting posts for news topics is a good idea? /huh.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

50, 000? *sighs* I think you mean 50, 001 /brows.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(brows)\' />

It could/would simply spark competition, if we a few members towering over the rest with a massive post count, its only a matter of time before others decide to start massposting in order to beat those, is how i see it anyway.

This needs to be posted in the post-to-play area for members to see.

I don\'t really think people need to have a post count at all. It\'s nice to know who is posting and who isn\'t. I don\'t post much because usually I don\'t have much to post about. If I was posting news every day it wouldn\'t bother me if I didn\'t get a higher count because I\'m posting for people to read valuable information and not for personal gain.

As has been stated before, once the news and gaming sites are up, it will be a moot point. Pertinent Tech, Gaming and Graphics news will go on those sites. The forum is simply getting too big, and I would like to see more focus on site coding, graphics projects, programme and gaming development on here. We are still working on the format for the new sites but they should be up soon. I asked in chat for ideas on site format for gaming, and got none, even though there were plenty of people \"alive\" at the time.

May I suggest making post counts only visible to users > Forum Staff? /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Either way, its no point arguing as its been done. I say if forum posts go \'hidden\' they might as well go hidden to everyone, i cant see why forum staff should be able to see them if everyone else cant. As for posting that in post-to-play i was halfway through it and then plesk screwed mysql, so will asap.
