1Gbps broadband rolled out in Hong Kong
Internet users in Hong Kong can now browse the internet at speeds that UK residents only dream about.
Hong Kong Broadband Network has launched a new ultra fast service. The symmetric 1Gbps service costs approximately £112 per month, but obliterates the kind of speeds we are used to in the UK. We are eagerly waiting for the rollout of an 8Mbps service and consider that to be fast.
While this kind of speed is unlikely to be available in the UK for some time, the possibilities for its use are immense. Large publishers could offer direct download services for their games, online gaming could be revolutionised and TV channels could be streamed at MPEG-2 DVD quality. It is hard to actually imagine speeds reaching 1Gbps in the UK, but we can dream.

Aha, but did you read that those speeds (1gbps) only counts for local traffic, so dont go moving unless your certain you can download all you need at that speed from people on the same island

Doesnt matter anyway... even if you have 1gbps world wide, you can only download as fast as your HDD can write the info

Agreed. A new computer would do sufficiently more for me, literally. They're getting cheaper by the day now

Technically i am of legal age because it's my legal guardian buying it for me, in australia, aslong as you are over the age of 12 and are supervised by your parent or legal guardian, and it's at a private residence, it's perfectly legal. Besides, 3 more months and i am of legal age to drink anywhere else anyway

And jer: what speed are most hdd's anyway, (i'm ot really sure). I'd imagine 1gbps wouldn't be too strenuous would it?.
