It's both /bigwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' /> Because the design and the code are both classified under 2 different categories.

I suppose it's both, but it's not classed as an official language.

it's a script because it is a set of instructions that run a program, much like the other meaning of a script which stems from manuscript which are lines of a play. They define the way the play goes.

Code is something that is used to create a completely different program and I would say that I am PHP/CSS/HTML coding than scripting.

I would also say code if I was programming a program in VB as it is CODE that defines it.

dictionary.com defines scripting as:
A simple program in a utility language or an application's proprietary language.

dictionary.com defines coding as:
To write or revise a computer program.

SCRIPTING = mirc.

Another point for coding is that it's only 6 letters long when scripting is 8. Although if you're using whatpulse you could get two more key counts (even more if you typo)!

Technically, what you are typing out is code... there is no definitive point as to what is not considered to be code.... ascii is code, binary is code, tcl is code, perl is code.
What you end up with at completion can be considered script though... the completed work, containing code.
[quote]From The Collaborative International Dictionary of English:

Code:
7. (Computers) The set of instructions for a computer program written by a programmer, usually in a programming language such as Fortran, C, Cobol, Java, C++, etc.; also, the executable binary object code. All such programs except for the binary object code must be converted by a compiler program into object code, which is the arrangement of data bits which can be directly interpreted by a computer.

Script:
4. Written characters; style of writing.[/quote]Since the script would be classified as the code after it is written, this would be correct.

code: A system of symbols and rules used to represent instructions to a computer; a computer program.

script: Computer Science. A simple program in a utility language or an application's proprietary language.

there for code would be something telling the computer to do something directly through the operating system's proper run time enviroment. script is something that tells an application to tell the computer what it should do within that program, and is limited to ONLY that program. a runtime enviroment is a set of files defining a computer coding language, but it is not an application. mIRC is an application. there for mIRC Scripting is not code, but scripting. Even khaled mardam-bey says its scripting. /good.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(Y)\' />
