Hey Racer,
I\'ve never told anyone this, but I tend to work better and get really good ideas from some very beautiful music. I don\'t mean like death metal crap, I mean orchestral stuff like stuff by Jarred Hudson (Get us3rX to send you some of his songs..) Usually I can visualize something in the music and I try to put it down on the canvas in photoshop, c4d, or any other graphics program I have access to. Take a look around at some art communities and see what they do and try to replicate some stuff (That\'s always fun.. I know nem has learned how to do a lot in Bryce by replicating someone\'s work)

Sorry if this wasn\'t what you were looking for in a reply <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... igwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

I just start with a blank canvas and start messing around with stuff and see where it ends up. I agree with Josh, inspirational music helps alot. I usually listen to Josh Groban or soundtracks like those for the LOTR trilogy. Instrumentals can be inspirational. <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

I don\'t know if listening to music helps, i never really tried that. But what i do know is that the best way to learn a program is messing around in it. For example, I\'m learning c4d by replicating things i find around my desk, or things i see on the net or in tv. The only thing you really need besides a program to make it in is imagination. Once you have these 2 things you can make everything. You will learn certain things along the way, things you didn\'t think were possible. I also have lack of inspiration sometimes but you can always ask people if they know something or you can just open a program and try. You say you are not very good at art, but who is? Perfection is never achieved by any of us, so you just do the best job you can, and you do better the next try. In this way you will evolve in your own skills and in the knowledge you have.

If you don\'t really know which road you want to choose ( c4d or ps ) you could try them out and see which suits you best. Just take your time to learn things, you won\'t be able to model a fully detailed robot in 1 month <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... igwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />.

Anyway I hope I\'m not ranting on too much now, just wanted to share this.

hey, well josh was right about bryce. www.petersharpe.com has some very good ,and in all honestly simplistic images....he's also one of the few bryce people out there who has a range of tutorials you can look at - i'm still not finished with them lol. as for bryce, i make a bunch of shapes, apply an off material to them, plop in some light effects, choose a sky and have a mirror somewhere so that everything kind of bounces off each other. theres a tutorial i made for bryce based on one of his works here in the tutorials section.

photoshop - to begin with i devoured everything on www.good-tutorials.com -i wouldnt say that has made me brilliant at using PS, just more familiar. recently as you know i've fallen in love with brushes and textures. downloading a brush set is a great way to start off your inspiration.....just make a bunch of layers, click them in random places with colors and eventually you'll get somewhere.

poser - oh goodness i've barely scratched the surface of this. as jer says "why are your women always naked?" well, thats because i cant figure out how to add clothes that conform to a models poses.....i'm getting better at it though and learning about 'setting parents' etc.

most of the time my "art" comes about because of a theme - like banner or wallpaper, or even website. i also like to spend a few hours every weeks browsing through www.renderostiy.com -this place can be daunting to look at at first, but the work produced there is a great goal to work to, and after staring at the work there, with all the details in it, you cant help but get *some* idea!

and if your following a tutorial and get stuck, just post in the graphics response squad, someone is usually able to answer!
