Yes...you heard me. I know this is one gigantic step but this theory sounds like it should work. Basically, we start a lot of projects but we never finish them or they take forever to finish. Why don\'t we just drop all of our projects right now and work on one project at a time? I mean we only have 25 or so staff members and if we eliminate the ones who cannot get to the pc/internet or do not have knowledge in web design/programming/graphics that leaves capable people who could all work together in one department on a site to make it come to life instead of having two or less people assigned to one whole site. We need to really work on getting our sites that will bring in the most money up first.... So that would be in order hosting(done), gaming(unfinished and everywhere), blogs(finished), etc..

Once we get all of these sites up faster with all the help from everyone we can start promoting the hell out of kn and get more members/trafffic/etc

There is a key word to all of that. Let me point it out again.

Lately, things seem to have been slipping again. Scott and Adaera are on the verge of burnout (did anyone notice an article Adaera posted this morning about overworking yourself?), and still there are a few that are... well, lets be kind for a moment and say that a few are dragging their feet.
Giving an example here to expalin my current frame of mind (I\'m not ging to point fingers, and I could care less about blame at this point). Several months ago, we were discussing bringing killagaming online with gamserver hosting and such. Included in this was the purchase of 2 servers on a partial rack, all set up and ready to go for a very low price. All it needed was a website. We had it planned so that the website had almost 2 months to be ready, then the servers would be purchased and I would spend my holiday week prepping them for production status... patching, securing, installing, blah blah blah, you get the idea. Deadline came... and went. Still people chatted, played with shoutcast and games and whatpulse. My holiday week that I was going to spend getting this ready came... and went. And still, the chat, shoutcast, games, and whatpulse continued, The once-in-a-lifetime deal for pricing for the packages we wanted came... and went. Follow a trend? Now, here we are, almost 6 months after the initial idea was brought up... an idea that could have brought money into this network, and you look at where it is now... the site is finally done, but only because of overnight cram sessions... nothing has been sold because we now have to meet global gaming cost, instead of being able to slip in underneath it. Gaming is not the only thing this has been done with, either. I\'m noticing a lot of sites having months for a deadline, but everything else just kind of takes a priority over it and it gets lost in the shuffle.
I\'m not expecting everyone to drop their personal lives for this, but when you sit on the chat and discuss how bored you are, or how you have nothing to do, or whatever stupid thing that gives the impression you would rather do anything else over get the network moving... well, ask yourself why you\'re really here. Rift has taken the time to post numerous things that can be fixed around here... Scott and Ada have taken the timeto post the sites that need to be done or worked on... there is an extensive list that has been posted several times of the sites that are still waiting to go live. Why not step up to the plate and take some initiative on completing them?
I basically would like everyone here to just spend a minute asking themselves why they are here. Why were they chosen to be staff? Ready for the answer? Because you\'re good at what you do, and it is (was) the opinion of the admins and the other staff that you would (are) an asset to this group and can get things done that you start. Now ask yourself if the admins and other staff were right.
So... were we?
Oh... and to the staff member(s) who have not touched the reply button on this topic yet, but have still managed to view it and cruise around the forum some everyday since it\'s been posted. What\'s your excuse?[/quote]

Yeah, this has came up before - perhaps not as a formal suggestion. A few problems are associated with this, however:

- Staff member\'s aren\'t paid and therefore can\'t be expected to be completely active. I\'m all welcome for dropping a few more if they haven\'t been around.

- Multiple coders is a great idea, something I\'d love for us to do. Problem is that not all of us code the same - if I was making a site I\'d use OOP (gaming, for example) which (no offense) I don\'t know if everyone would be able to do atm.

- Hosting is a hard one to get going - customers need to see adverts, adverts need money, money needs customers....etc.

If we focus on KG ([b]warning: rant alert[/b]) which needs content, and lots of it. I know I\'ve said this before, but the setup of KG could do still do with some cleanup *hides*. KG is a graphics forum...why don\'t we focus on that aspect? When you read down the board index, the first thing you come to is KN stuff, then technical stuff, then graphics stuff. Can\'t KillaDesign be the top category (maybe including the competitions). Can we consolidate News/Suggestions to only 1 category with no subcats? (I actually vividly hate the number of sub cats we have - it\'s impossible for a newb to know where to post). In Main Street, how about moving all the subs into Pheonix and Toga being a subcat of Pheonix. All subcats of Coffee I would destroy, apart from intro which would become a main forum in Main Street. These are just ideas...but I really [i]really[/i] think we can improve the layout to visitors. As for content, that\'s up to to the people who are crazy enough to understand graphics. /bigwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

I\'ll take another look at the cats & subcats when I get home from work; once killacode is live, all of that stuff can be moved over and taken off the forum with the cat becoming a redirect link with a description below it so people will know where to find the development stuff. Personally I would rather see more areas devoted to the actual grahics software and stuff, but with the lack of content provisions from other staff and members, I would sincerely doubt our content levels.

We could try all working on the same site. I\'ve been looking at CVS systems which we\'d need to use.

Another idea that came to me, I know kw is something we\'ve been planning for a while, but is it as important as kc and kgam? 2 of us could work on 1 of the sites and see how we get on.

I\'m thinking perhaps me and josh work on kgam, firstly to teach him basic oop and secondly because he\'ll spend most of the time admining it. I also want to get kgam finished because its current site is ugly. Opinions?

I would be willing to work with scott on kgam to learn oop, as much as it looks really confusing I know I need to learn it as it will make our site coding more professional and probably easier to work with even though as much as I think I should learn more basic php I\'ll work on learning oop /blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

As far as I remember I don\'t think we have done this... I mean we all need to get our sites online and fast. I mean, we have a page on our main site that lists all of our network sites and a lot of them have a \"Coming soon\" type thing on them. What do you do when you see a \"Coming Soon\" page on a domain name? I don\'t know about you, but it takes me one click to go back to where I came from and that site is gone out of my site and I probably won\'t ever go back to it either.

We (ok Tami) is giving them free web hosting and she did give them free books untill they blew that one and stopped giving in the reviews and now we haven\'t had a booklist in a while now.
