Introduction
Everyone (Well, just about) gets their picture taken and they see the final picture and they are shocked by how yellow their teeth are. Of course, thanks to the genius\' who created Photoshop, we can easily make those teeth white.

Now a lot of people make the mistake of wanting to make the teeth white and that\'s what they do. They take a white color and start coloring those teeth. What you really want to do is actually remove the color from the teeth. Removing the color gets rid of that yellow color and makes them look white and clean.

Let\'s Start the Whitening!
Find an image that you want to make the teeth white on. I used google to find a picture for myself; if you would like you can use the same image.

  • Create a new Adjustment Layer, Hue/Saturation
Adjustment layers are very nice. They come in handy when you edit photographs. They\'re exactly like a vector mask, but instead of having just visibility on white sections of the mask it applies a adjustment to the photo. In this tutorial we\'re going to drop the saturation and make the teeth have the dropped saturation applied to them. This is really handy when you don\'t want to edit the original photograph.
  • Set your saturation to -51

Now this is going to make the whole photograph very washed out and not have much color, but take a look at those teeth. They\'re not yellow anymore. Now how do we apply this whiteness to only the teeth, you ask? Simple:
  • Invert the adjustment\'s layer mask so it is black instead of white.
  • Take a medium sized brush (fuzzy) and set the color to white (#FFFFFF) and start coloring on top of the teeth in the layer mask.
Once you start coloring on top of the teeth in the layer mask you\'ll notice how the teeth are turning white. Go over all the teeth; you may need to change brush sizes to get smaller parts of the teeth. Once you get done going over all of the teeth you should get some very nice pearly whites! Take a look below for my result.

Now as you can see with the power of Photoshop we can easily get rid of those icky yellow teeth. I hope this tutorial helped you in some way or another. If you have any questions post them here or don\'t be afraid to send me a PM.

Nice tut man, I enjoyed it, made use of some great functions and tools within the beast that is Photoshop. On a side note, we wouldnt need to do this if people just brushed their teeth like this guy --> <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... iggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

Just because you brush your teeth doesn\'t mean they\'re going to be perfectly white. In fact, teeth get more yellow as you age. My teeth aren\'t perfectly white.. It doesn\'t help I live in a smoker house lol...

Chill man, I was only making a joke, and is there really such a thing as perfect white? Not even photoshop is capable of that I dont think as all the light that surrounds us is called white light. Maybe we live in a white world and we just dont know it. Freaky.

I know there is white light man, hence me saying that we are surrounded by white light.

As one of the defenitions says;

"a mixture of all colors of light. Sunlight is white light."
