No it doesn\'t. The XBOX is far more powerful than the PS2, the PS2 just has a better selection of games (arguable).

Playstation started the whole \"Disc console gaming\" trend and everyone followed, then they were the first to release a disc gaming console that doubled as a DVD player, and everyone else followed suit also. Playstation was a nintendo devolpement originaly anyways, but they decided to ditch the idea of disc gaming developement but the group of people who had faith in it decided to take it up on their own, the name was playstation:P

Not sure if your correct on the playstation being the first console system that uses cdss, i used to have an addon for my \"extremely\" old Sega that you attached it to the side and played using cds.

Not sure if that was released same time or perhaps after, but i\'m pretty sure it was before.

Actually, Sony and Nintendo were working together on a design for a disc-based console (to compete with SegaCD and possibly go further in the concept of graphcis as well). Nintendo destroyed the contract and said that they were no longer interested in the design or the work. Soon after, Sony released the very first Playstation console. Nintendo and Sony bashed heads in a legal suit about the Playstation - since the design of the first one was actually the same as the one they had for Nintendo. Sega had the SegaCD, which was their own little disc-based addition to their Sega Genesis console. Sega boosted graphics up to 32-bit when they released the 32X addon for the Genesis. Sadly, neither the SegaCD or the 32X really hit it off in terms of popularity (they were expensive and didn\'t have an array of games that people particularly liked either). But Rift was right, Playstation was originally Nintendo and Sony\'s collaboration between the two .. but Sony jipped the idea when Nintendo gave up on it.
