Colossus captured on film in Ico 2
Fans of Ico\'s ethereal, handholding-based gameplay rejoice. It now looks increasing likely that the sequel, known as Wanda And Colossus in Japan, will get a local release. Albeit under the distinctly less imposing title of Ico 2.
For the uninitiated, the original Ico was the classic that never made it. A wondrous tale following a small boy with horns and a strange waif of a girl as they tried to escape from an evil witch and a crumbling castle. Fairly standard stuff you might think. However the genuinely touching relationship that developed between the pair and the jaw dropping beauty of the ruined palace made it an unforgettable experience for those who submitted to its charms.
Now Ico 2 looks set to bring yet more extraordinary story telling to the PS2 and we\'ve got the latest trailer to show you. Details of the game are scant but we do know that the new hero, Wanda (a play on the Japanese word for wanderer) and his horse Argo must once again save a strange girl. But to do this they must track down and kill the colossi, huge creatures roaming the landscape. As you can see from the trailer Wanda must first get close to a behemoth with the help of Argo, before climbing the beast-mountain, to the summit where a convenient weak spot awaits a well thrust sword.
If you\'ve never experienced the original Ico then time is running short. Copies are currently changing hands on Ebay for $40 to $50 and you can guarantee that when Ico 2 is released they\'ll disappear faster than Argo\'s sugar lumps after a hard days giant chasing.
