Those pant-wearing, banana-loving Ape Escape monkeys have taken a break from avoiding the clutches of Hikaru and his trusty Monkey Net to run riot on EyeToy! You and up to three friends must compete for the friendship of little Pipo monkeys on three board game-style stages, each one packed with a massive variety of quick-fire mini-games. Leave your shyness at the door and get ready to leap around alongside your new simian pals - you won\'t win this game unless you\'re prepared to put your whole body into it!
Make-a-monkey
Before you get started in Board Game mode, however, you and your friends should all create your own personal monkey profile. Name your simian companion, dress him up in a variety of wacky outfits, such as a knight\'s helmet, a panda rucksack, and an afro wig, then take a suitably silly picture of your own face to make it clear that you\'re the monkey\'s sole owner.
Once you\'re all done, it\'s time to head to the tropical Freaky Floaty Island, where you\'ll each take it in turns to physically spin the roulette wheel - the harder you hit it, the faster it spins - to move your monkey around the board.
The space that your monkey ends up on can trigger any number of actions, including giving you (or even taking away) precious Pipo monkeys, opening up a shop full of helpful items, and activating any one of 50 insane mini-games. Play well, and you might just open up some more boards to compete on ...
As you collect more Pipo monkeys, you\'ll be able to buy special traps from the shops - like Wild Dogs and Slippery Bananas - that can be laid down on special spaces to hinder your opponents\' progress, be it by stealing their hard-earned monkeys or forcing them to miss a turn.
However, both you and your rivals can also purchase items that will counter these traps, such as the Mutt Manager, which will turn any Wild Dogs back on the person who put them there. The Pipos can also be used to activate teleporters that will take you to new areas of the level, so be sure to accumulate as many as you can to discover all of Freak Floaty Island\'s secrets.
Mini-game mania
It\'s actually possible to play the mini-games individually, but you\'ll only be able to unlock a lot of them once you\'ve discovered them in Board Game mode. Some games require you to take it in turns to play, while others allow between two and four people to jump and wave around in front of the TV at the same time. We obviously can\'t tell you about all 50 of them or we\'d ruin the surprise, but here are three of our favourites:
Smack the Monkey: Take it in turns to wipe off the dirt from the monkeys\' soiled pants, and then smack their backsides to send them running away!
Push and Shove: Two players must battle against each other to shove the explosives-filled boxes onto the opposing player\'s side, to blow up all the monkeys that are running around on the floor. You win if you successfully wipe out all of your rival\'s apes!
Hide the Banana: Up to four players must each try to make their monkey pupils munch on as many bananas in the classroom as possible before the time runs out. Touch your monkey when the teacher isn\'t looking to avoid being caught, but if she catches your ape out she\'ll throw chalk at you and you\'ll lose precious points.
