Warner Bros.' HAPPY FEET (the first 3D-animated feature from Animal Logic) maintained its slim lead over Sony's CASINO ROYALE throughout the five-day Thanksgiving holiday period ended Nov. 26, 2006. HAPPY FEET collected $50.6M to up its two-week total to $99.2M, while the 21st Bond movie grabbed $44.8M to run its cume to $94M. With vfx by Peerless Camera, CASINO ROYALE is proving to be a global hit, adding another $128.7M to its worldwide coffers of $222.7M, and on its way to possibly becoming the #1 all-time grossing 007 movie.
Debuting in third and fourth place were Buena Vista's DÉJÀ VU (with vfx from Asylum Visual Effects) and Fox's DECK THE HALLS. The former took in $28.6M and the latter $16.9M. Fifth place belonged to Fox's BORAT, with $15.2M for a cume of $109.1M. Buena Vista's THE SANTA CLAUSE 3: THE ESCAPE CLAUSE (vfx from Tippett Studio and Furious FX) followed in sixth with $13.7M for a cume of $67M. Sony's STRANGER THAN FICTION (with vfx from Intelligent Creatures, Double Negative, Digital Dimension and Mokko Studio, among others) was the seventh place finisher with $8.1M and $32.5M. The 3D-animated FLUSHED AWAY from Aardman/DreamWorks fell to eighth with $7.5M and $57.2M. Darting up the chart to ninth was MGM/Weinstein's BOBBY with $6M for a cume of $6.1M.
