ok today i noticed that we have a posting problem. In all the topics that i have looked at a familiar person has posted, in other words, Mods, Admins and some regular members.
This is very bad considering that there are 25 pages, with ten users on each, thats a total of 250 members, and about 95% dont post thus having a 0 post count next to their name, the 5% that are posting are mods etc..
So maybe we should get rid of some members that are inactive or perhaps advertise more, i know that the site isnt fully open but come on 250\'s and only about 10 regular posters. <_<

I quite agree hoax, I wish there was a way to get more people involved and posting. Maybe once we get more activities and services happening the rest will follow.

i just thought id have my input..
before we worry about fully opening everything up, why dont we finish our current projects. we have too much to do, and with the more ideas flowing in and the more things needing to be opened or want to be opened will go haead, then we'll be drowning in things and will never accomplish anything. lets just work at a steady pace and when we're ready..well we're ready..
thats my view on the matter, but hey, everyone has their opinions..

Well see some of the projects/tasks set, have been set for so long that its getting annoying just waiting..were trying to hurry things up, obviously at a comfortable pace so that its done properlly; the aim is to start bring in some money, because i dont ada\'s going to let this run from her wallet for the next century, hence why things are being pushed to completion but also things being opened.

I'm with elec fully on this one, i've said before that we have alot on our plate, and it seems alot of it isn't getting completed as soon as possible, but rather than dishing out more things to be done, would'nt it be much more effective to focus everyone on ONE thing and get that finished... tick it off the list, then move everyone over onto the next issue that needs resolving, rather than having people spread out all over the place with minimal idea of what needs to be done.
And also just on what Hoax` said in his original post
So maybe we should get rid of some members that are inactive
Personally i don't think this would be a good idea, sure people who join and don't post, or join and lurk can be infuriating at times, deleting them for no obvious reason is not the answer. Also that member count in a way is doing us a favor, if people see that quite a few people are memebrs of our site, then they will think "If its good enough for them, its good enough for me" so to speak.
They are just my opinions on the matter, and i have a horrible feeling im going to get flamed for atleast one of them but meh, im a paranoid persnn, as a few of you know.
EDIT: Yes i realise that this is running out of ada's expenses at the moment, but i still think it would be better to get the sites we are focusing on right online and functioning, and atleast give some people a bit of a break before we start focusing on something else.

It would be effective i guess if people stuck to what they\'ve been asked to do, the post i made last time was to rattle you\'s up. Things seem to take time because the person doing them couldnt work out how, yet they dont ask for help till the last minute, or when asked how its coming along etc. Though i dont see how putting sites live, especially KH is going to effect how much we all have to do atm.

I don't think it'd be more effective to bundle everyone onto the same project. That'll cause more confusion about who's doing what. At least if everyone has their own project they kinda know what needs to be done. I say kinda, because in my experience have doing a few projects, not everything gets explained straight away so I've had to ask a lot of questions. I just think that each project needs a full explanation of everything involved, that way there's no stopping because you dunno what to do

Yeah, we really do need to get the word out about KG/KN .. perhaps if KG/KN started affiliating with sites it would help bring some visitors to the site.
The bruises fade but memories are made.

Sorry I\'m not more active... I visit regularly, but don\'t often have much to say (same with the room, I guess).
I just want to point out a quick word of caution... don\'t turn into an XT, punishing people for not posting as often as others would like... it will simply turn into a spamfest like a certain pink-fonted freak of nature leans towards on another board, and members getting kicked off not for the quality but for the quantity.

A few thing I\'d like to comment on:
So maybe we should get rid of some members that are inactive
I\'d be strongly against doing this, firstly it would reduce our member number and it would be another thing which would require management.
would\'nt it be much more effective to focus everyone on ONE thing and get that finished
Again, I strongly disagree. If we put 5 people on the one task then it would never get completed. In the past we\'ve had single tasks which have also caused a problem, I feel a task which has 2 people seem to work best, providing the time differences aren\'t too far apart.
It would be effective i guess if people stuck to what they\'ve been asked to do
Agreed
I just think that each project needs a full explanation of everything involved.
Know exactly what you mean, we\'re planning on putting a project management script somewhere very soon.

My turn
1. We won\'t be getting rid of inactive members. Part of the problem has been the amount of downtime we\'ve had, which will hopefully be coming to an end soon.
2. How many jobs are really out there and assigned? Let\'s review.
New & more secure downloads script-ner0
killafonts-improved backend script & layout-ner0 and Josh
killahosting-vulture-site complete
killablogs-vulture & sp3c-site complete
killadomains-me-site complete
chat stats-NightStorm and me-site complete except for adding user images as we get them
improved ecards script-electrix
ecards content-for shy, shane, josh, nem and anyone else working on designs, thank you
/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
Code Crypt-Trinity-not yet completed
Area51: this will have the Project Management script and is a testing site for projects, it will always be changing
improved KillaGraphix main site layout-sp3c-looking very good so far, we\'re ready when you are
KillaNet layout-vulture and myself working with exile\'s layout-it\'s getting there, but it effects the progress on all of the KN subdomains
KillaNet index page-me, working from exile\'s layout-might be finished today
Smiley Generator-vulture and myself-operational, but working on the layout
Tutorials: script is installed, still working on the css & moving the tutorials over. More tutorials are always welcome.
The following subdomains have scripts and content (or require user posted content) but need the KN css:
Reviews, Writers, FunStuff, Directory, TopSites, Features, Gallery (different from the forum gallery, I\'ll explain later), Mentors, News
The following sites are still having content developed & require the KN css:
Affiliates, Advertising, Gaming, Reference (vercz I\'ll be needing that software list soon), Marketplace
A short url redirector: we have the script, still deciding on if we wish to start it up again.
Then there are all of the staff sites. How is everyone\'s coming along? I know mine is empty, but that\'s slated for working on this weekend.
Downtimes have not helped us in the least, but we have to work around it and use the downtime to work on everything we possibly can when the server is down. I spent my time working on content, finding content, searching for income generating programmes and on grant stuff....how did you spend yours?
So you see, while it may appear to be going in all directions, it\'s not. Everything is intertwined in one way or another. Once the css is done, everything will go up rather quickly.
Not too long ago, several people were assigned different areas of the forum to look after: Paint Shop Pro, Modding, Skinning, etc etc etc....are those assignments being kept up with?
The reason I don\'t give many details on some projects is because I would rather see what the person doing the project comes up with. Yes it could help avoid some confusion, but I don\'t mind if anyone asks for clarification on certain points. You\'re all creative-minded people, I want you to create
/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
We will start an affiliation programme as soon as we\'re more operational. I don\'t want to really start promoting until we have more sites working with content. I\'ve asked for input on content and structure, and alot of the time I get excuses on why stuff can\'t be done by certain people, or why stuff is delayed, or a myriad of other things. Alot of you work diligently until the project is done, some don\'t.
I don\'t like to pressure people, but I do like it when tasks assigned are followed through with, it makes our jobs much easier. It\'s a waste of our time to constantly have to ask for progress reports, or chase down files and psd\'s. I don\'t have the time for it, and alot of times I forget. (which is why we\'re getting a project manager script)
We have income generating programmes to add, which can\'t be done until sites are working.
What it boils down to is...there is a small group of us trying to accomplish a lot. It will take time as we all have lives. If you take on a project, or are given a task, no matter how small it is, please follow through. If you have something you can do and would like to contribute with, please do. These sites are a group effort...and the goal is to turn this into a fun place yes, but also one where money is to be made. Those who contribute scripts, software, models, graphics, or other work that is sold will be making money.
You are all aware of areas that need contributions: the marketplace, ecards, tutorials, downloads; if you want to make things for any of these sections, please do. If you want to work on content for a site, please do. If you want to manage a site, let us know. Anything for the marketplace must be work of quality and original, and will work on a commission basis, with the majority going to the creator. Eventually you may all have the opportunity to have your own storefront. This will mean that you can sell your own creations, make your own money, and make use of our payment systems. All you will have to do is pay the transaction fees and a small fee for the space used. Other graphics sites do this very successfully, there is no reason why we can\'t offer it as well.
NightStorm-don\'t worry about appearing to be inactive...you keep us online and functioning, that\'s the most important \"job\" of all
/bigwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />
KillaNet, for all intents and purposes is a business. I can\'t always wait around for files and such when things have to get done. If I need something done, I will let you know if it needs to be done right away. Case in point, the site banners I asked for over the weekend, I said no rush, by this week\'s end would be fine. Other times if I ask for files, it\'s because I need them; not having them holds up production in many areas.
Participation may be optional, but if you take on a project, then the responsibility to see it through and provide the files needed is not optional, it\'s necessary. If people are depending on files, scripts, content, whatever and you\'re the one who\'s got them, then progress is being held up until the person responsible for them sees the project and subsequent transfers or uploads through.
This network will *never* turn into another site like xt. I\'ll delete it all if it does. It\'s a huge project yes, but not one that we aren\'t capable of managing. Yes I push the envelope alot, you\'ll get used to it. I will not, however, ever ask more of anyone in the way of time than I am willing to put in myself. As a part of this group, you are free to participate...or not; it\'s up to you. But remember, you will get back from it what you put in. Sometimes it will be the satisfaction of something well done, sometimes it will result in monetary rewards. Either way, it\'s up to each of you to decide on your courses of action.

well said ada.
I have to say the point with which I personally agree most, is that saying \"if you choose the job, then follow through\" (in a nutshell)...
though I may not be in the best position to say this, I\'ve been more focused on coursework than anything else lately... I think its definitely a point worth taking into consideration, and I personally; now my coursework is over for a few weeks, will put in more time.
also, in reply to HoaX\'s post, I couldn\'t agree more, it\'d be really nice to see more regular users appearing on that \"top10\"... I think it would give more purpose to what we\'re all doing here, knowing there are people out there who appreciate it. I think once the sites are live; as noted in an earlier post, we can start our advertising campaigns and bring in the visitors

Well I read all of that post, but to be honest, I can't remember much LOL.

Out of all the projects mentioned there, I only saw my name twice and as far as i'm concerned I thought KB was done?
I'd gladly take on the project of a few more designs. Since losing my internet I lost all will to do anything design related. But then having been given the task of designing the new KG, I can get back into it if I get giving a few more jobs
/good.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(Y)\' />
Also, if anyone needs help with some PHP projects (although I may not be the best person) don't neglect to ask. Could probably do with getting back into coding too
/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
Whenever you'd like to start affiliation programmes just let me know. There are two sections available on my clan site, a 468x60 banner at the top and a 206xN section at the side (where N is a negotiable height).
Will be good to see the forums finally boom with members
