Underage Drinking

Underage drinking like everyone knows is another ordinary crime. But i brought this up because where i live its more socially accepted then a crime. On an average base i attend an open party about 2 - 3 times a month where there is ample alcohol available and there is usually bout 300 - 500 people turnouts (small city

Im not sure if this is ditto to other ppls cities on these boards but im pretty sure a couple of you know what im talkin about (e.g. mobes, ruff, vercz). Usually if the cops come to the party its for noise polution, the host of the party will turn it down and if it continues the pigs will return and 'attempt' to break up the party. It is a rare case if they put anyone in lockup for underage drinking. Even outside social gatherings if your caught with possesion of alcohol they just get ur personal details (e.g. address,ph,name). Ive been caught 3 times and never once action taken always a 'threat' though. Do you think that alcohol is becoming more acceptable in society or do laws need to toughen?

I think that underage drinking is becoming more acceptable, because many other countries have lower drinking ages or none at all. I think that the USA should be more like those countries and not have a drinking age, although the laws for things such as drinking and driving need to be tougher. Just my opinion

Okay, not to start fights or anything but if we had no drinking age how would you like it when your 7 yr old kid is getting drunk? I personally think that no one should be drinking until the legal age. That\'s just me though

We have had a few parties that have gone down for underage drinking, but it is legal in Australia to drink from the age of 12, aslong as it is not in excess, it is a private party at a private household, and your parents are present.

I have been drinking since the age of about 11, and that is because my mom and dad both wanted to start me off early with a little bit of alcohol at a time and slowly build me up untill i am 18. That way i wont go out and die from alcohol poisoning on my 18th birthday. [/b][/i][/color][/font]

When we had a party at mine, couple of hundred people showed. There were people strolling the street drunk. And it was obvious that there were under age drinkers, but it really didn't seem to bother them much, I remember one of my friends even going up to them fully pissed and asking them if they would like a beer and would like to join in on the fun. They were far more worried about the noise then anything else, they were on the verge of locking me in a cell over night, which was kinda stupid because I was the only fully sober one at the party and it was my house and I clearly told them that my parents were away until the next morning, which was a lie but still if they did take me away there wasn't anyone to look after the joint and what . All they did was take my name, phone number and date of birth, down then left and gave me the warning.

I think they need to toughen a little more on those whom are under the age of 15/16 and are drinking, because then it starts to become dangerous and it's a lot harder for people under those ages to take care of themselves and a lot of them have no clue what they're drinking and when to stop.

I think however if they were to have their parent, guardian present at the time they're drinking to look after them, they should be more lenient with that law.

[b][i][color=\"gray\"][font=\"tahoma\"]I know a girl who i went to an afterparty (after formal party) with and she drank so much that the next morning she was passed out, and we ended up having to call an ambulance, she had consumed a poisonous amount of alcohol and required a full stomach pump. Kinda sucks how at schoolies you see all of the paedo's come down and try to take advantage of the young girls that have just finished school, knowing that they're going to get fully wasted and not exactly have the greatest of ideas in what they're getting themselves into.. it's really sad.

Its lots of cases thats true but most of the people I know do watch how much they drink and they make sure they can get home and stuff, but then again some have no idea and have ended up being beaten up at train stations... (I'm 14 but I hang out with alot of 15 year olds and some 16). (I'm not disagreeing or agreeing just commenting

I reckon that no matter what most kids will drink, so changing the law and saying its ok for them to drink would be even worse, because it is encouraging them?

Oh and yeah I do think that alcohol is getting more acceptable in society, I reckon people are more worried about drugs than alcohol...

*edit* sorry, ahhh... I dunno what just happened, I changed back to the KillaGraphix window after posting in my blog and it had the little add reply page already open and I thought I hadn't posted my reply... So just ignore this lol, and reply to vercz, yeah, sorry I mean illeagal drugs, which proves my point further, it slipped my mind that alcohol was a drug... Haha I turned it around to my advantage lol
