I got a template to tear apart to learn more about flash, I'm at square one here and need some direction on how to edit the text header in the flash part of the template, any help is apperciated,

the HTML part isnt a problem, but for the life of me I havent been able to find out how to open or find the text areas of the fla or swf files

So you have the .fla? I havnt reinstalled flash yet to get the exact name, but you should be able to find and edit the text via the Library, sorry i cant give you more detailed help, i will repost once if found the disc and reinstalled

Cool.. I've been messin with it most of the day, I have both files and useing Flash MX2004 pro,, for some reason I cant find the button to click to open/find the text

Ok; depending on what they have or if they have named the text area, go to Window > Library and you will find everything in the .fla there; just click to see what it is, when you find the text you may need to click it with your text tool to edit <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Well that sucks.. LOL, I read this in the help section and you confirm just that,, thing is theres no library, heres what I see;

Eww, your Flash MX PRO! that could be why..do you see this icon

under your timeline? If so click there, this may help; did you try double clicking the texted areas?

Got it mate.. Now all I have to do is find the right ones out of what seems to be a Zillion files <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... sleepy.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(sleep)\' /> this was a big help,, thanks very much

well back to square one, I go to edit the header I need to after working with the green one,, and I still cant get the thing to open, its like the commands are closed,, its weird even,, when I go to open a document, I surf to the folder and as the cursor goes over the folder I see the index files in that folder,, but when I click the folder to open it,, nothing is inside,, but I can go to the folder on my desktop and see them fine,,, if I try to open it with flash..... "Nothing,, nada,,,, zip!..... its late,, I have to finishing painting a little old ladies house tommorow..

By the way, just for reference; the keyboard shortcut to the library is CTRL+L

the green thing is locked, see the little lock icon, well on the pic ypu posted theres a lock button nxt to an eye button next to a square right underneeth the timeline, select that layer and click on the little lcok that might unlock it.

Thanks Sp3, I didnt know that,, I havent found in the help all the shortcuts yet..

Thanks HoaX,, I have that taken care of,, each layer is locked like that but after clicking a bunch of things I got that one LOL,,, The problem is with the first image at the top of the thread, no matter what I try to do I cant get it to open (different file)
