Again, mucking around with a very simple auth system, ends up printing multiples. First time I used a function /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

This was my first major project, I started it but never ended up finishing it - it was a good challenge but in the end it would be a console program with no GUI, and something that would be of little use to me. It was still an interesting excersize /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Here's a pretty useless example of using Tkinter in python, I won't bother explaining it because you can learn all about tkinter here.

Code: Select all

from Tkinter import *

class App:
    def __init__(self, master):
        frame=Frame(master)
        frame.pack()

        self.days=Listbox(frame, fg='black', selectbackground='red', selectmode=EXTENDED)
        for day in ['Sunday', 'Monday', 'Tuesday', 'Wednesday', 'Thursday', 'Friday', 'Saturday']:
            self.days.insert(END,day)
            self.days.pack(side=TOP)

        self.list=Button(frame, text='List days', command=self.SelectCheck)
        self.list.pack(side=LEFT)

    def SelectCheck(self):
        print 'You have selected the following days:\n'
        for day in self.days.curselection():
            print self.days.get(day)

root = Tk()
app = App(root)
root.mainloop()

This little snippet will find five types of audio in a certain directory and return the results in a list.

Code: Select all

from glob import *
from string import *

def FindAudio(Directory):
    Audio = []
    Directory += '\\*'
    for Filename in glob(Directory):
        SFilename = Filename.split('.')
        if SFilename[len(SFilename) - 1] in ['midi', 'mp3', 'ogg', 'wav', 'wma']:
            Audio.append(Filename)
    return Audio
Usage: FindAudio(Directory)

Nice tidy - I used wxPython for GUI instead of Tkinter, it was just too confusing /blum.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Tkinter's a lot less confusing than wxPython, it just doesn't have as many controls, in fact, it's missing quite a few vital ones such as the combo box.
