xtra-google is not a google site, but it allows a user to search all of google's specialty searches from one page instead of having to go to the actual page. Simply click the icon representing what you want to search, and you're on your way.

You can use xtra-google to search for:

Images
Groups
News
Froogle
Local
Answers
Maps
Directory
Government
Scholar
Weather
MP3
Clips
Video
Movies
Catalogs
Print
Quotes
Windows
Apple
Linux
BSD

This is quite a good idea, I think google need to deal with the fact most people don't see everything google offers. Like maps, wouldn't have found that unless someone told me about it.

Very true, i mean i found alot of its new things through news sites i read, but a majority have no other real way of finding out, except for maybe the wee "Locate with google maps" or something, though thats not exactly noticble if your a person who goes to google everyday

Perhaps when many of their current projects come out of beta we'll see them improve their front page. I do like the simplicity of it as it is, but there is plenty of space (so long as they don't put ads up - which I doubt).
