20 Mac OS X Holes

Apple Computer late Tuesday released an update to fix a whopping 20 security flaws in its flagship Mac OS X and warned that the most serious bugs could lead to remote code execution attacks.

Apple Computer Inc.'s Security Update 2005-005 includes patches for Mac OS X v10.3.9 and Mac OS X Server v10.3.9. It covers a wide range of vulnerabilities that could be exploited by remote or local attackers to execute arbitrary commands, trigger a denial-of-service condition or obtain elevated privileges.

The mega update comes just two weeks after the Cupertino, Calif.-based computer maker shipped patches for a range of potentially serious kernel and browser flaws. Since April 18, Apple has posted fixes for 28 Mac OS X vulnerabilities.

Not to sure if its just me, or if any other windows user is a bit sad for the fact that we havnt had to install many updates this month? (excluding sp2) Apple's bursting MS bubble for an influx of updates <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... >/envy.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(pop)\' />

Quite a blow to Apple here, it has quite a good reputation for security (well, in comparison to Windows). Many people who use Macs do so for an alternative to Windows and I quite agree that Macs have numerous advantages to Linux. I like Apples, they pretty much rule aesthetically just a shame about the price, so I do sympathise with them with these security releases, considering they just launched Tiger on friday. Hopefully they won't succumb to the Windows level and further security patches arrise.
