*sigh*

1) How did you first get involved with the Internet and eventually KillaNet?

Well it took alot of events to lead to KillaNet. I first got the internet way back in 96 or 97 I can\'t remember now, mainly for research for a book I\'ve been working on for a few years. I discovered chat by accident, and got involved with a group called Spirituality-Pagan Chat on Talk City, where I met alot of people, some of whom I am still friends with. I also got involved with a group called A 30s and 40s Chat on msn chat, but when MSN switched over to webchat I was directed to Techgear and eXtreme Team to get a script that would connect (not a big fan of webchat).

I joined both of those forums, and ended up getting more involved with Techgear. When MSN chat changed to subscription, err0r, ozzy10, chameleon and I decided to give hosting our own irc channel a go but we lost our first server to ddos attacks. We then purchased a dedicated server and began an attempt at something similar to what we are doing here at KillaNet. However we were under almost constant ddos attacks and harassment from several areas, Greg, and a few members of eXtreme Team made it very difficult for us to accomplish anything and at the end of January 2004 err0r, ozzy10 and I made a joint decision to call it quits.

By that time I had a small graphix forum called GraphixGround. err0r and ozzy10 went back to virtual hosting and I switched to new servers which also came under ddos attacks. A few people here may remember \"Sinister\" who was running the servers for me, and who also ultimately crashed the kernels by overselling his hosting service. I had been in contact and became friends with NightStorm while we were still running TCN, as he was trying to help us deal with the problems stemming from a group of eXtreme Team members. He helped me recover what we could from the dying servers, and got us set up on the server owned by CES Hosting.

Soon after that we were joined by exile and a few others. exile had a free phpBB graphics forum he had named killanet, and we decided to merge the sites, forming killagraphix. I purchased several domains, including killanet, killagraphix, killahosting, killablogs and killafonts. Those are the original \"killa\" sites. We continued to grow, and then in November of 2004 exile left-after I had formed a legal company named KillaNet Technology Ltd.

I retained ownership of all the domains as I had paid for all of the hosting, domain registrations and legal fees. Since then, the other admins, network staff and myself have further developed KillaNet to include KillaDesign, and the soon to be fully open KillaGaming, KillaCode and a few other sites which are forthcoming. I never could have made it this far without the assistance and dedication of KillaNet\'s core staff, who have been supportive both on a professional and a personal level. We have certainly had our roadblocks and decriers but by working together we are moving forward every day towards our goals.

2) What motivates you into working on KillaNet?

There are some days when I ask myself that. However, in all seriousness, KillaNet and those involved with it have so much potential to go further in their respective areas of interest, and I would like to see them succeed. KillaNet gives those who want to learn (and teach) a safe environment to do that. I\'ve grown rather attached to several of the people here, and I would like to give them every opportunity I can to help them realize any dreams they may have of finding a career in they choose to specialize in. To that end, we formed a learning partnership with a book publishing/distributing company who provides us with free technology books in exchange for book reviews which are made public. This enables those Network Staff involved in the programme access to books they may not otherwise be able to purchase. I try to find as many opportunities to learn as possible and motivate those who are interested to expand their horizons and circles of experience.

3) Where would you like to see KillaNet in say 5 years?

I\'d like to see everything we are currently working on completed and fully running, the resource centre open and operational, and the whole network a flourishing place of learning, sharing and teaching. I would also like to see the commercial areas of KillaNet making a profit and those who want to, make money doing what they are happy doing.

4) Apart from KillaNet, what else do you do online?

Alot of research /blink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> As several of you know, I also write for a national magazine, so the internet comes in handy when trying to get story ideas and to research background information for various assignments. I also use the internet to research those books I\'m still working on, and to learn more about photography and other areas I am interested in-but which can oddly enough be useful in various areas of KillaNet. I also keep in touch with friends I have all over the world who are not tied in with KillaNet.

5) What do you enjoy doing away from the computer?

Spending time with Carson and Michael (when he\'s not driving me insane), going out to shoot pictures, watching various forensics/crime shows such as CSI, NCIS, and Crossing Jordan. I like museums and camping as well, but pretty well everything somehow leads back to something to do with KillaNet. /blink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

6) Is there anything you would enjoy doing but have never had the chance?

Roasting a buzzard, penguin, turkey and a fungus comes to mind......

I would love to be able to visit various historical sites around the world-Akrotiri is at the top of that list, followed closely by St. Petersburg and Moscow (the ones in Russia), Egypt, Jordan, the Mayan Temples, and I would like to go back to the UK to spend more time visiting various locations there. I find it hard to actually kick back and relax, so poking around historic sites and shooting pictures would be an ideal vacation to me. Oh yes, winning the lottery ranks right up there too /blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

1) Be honest... is Moppy really a mop just \"dressed\" up like a broom? >.>

NO, Moppy is a waterbroom, which is entirely different. She is a broom with the capability of firing a jetstream of water powerful enough to flood you into next month. The ultimate super-soaker /blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

2) How does it feel to be the first Member of the month?

Member of the Month was supposed to recognize the efforts of anyone BUT me; I don\'t do what I do for the recognition, I do it for the perfectly selfish reason of wanting to help those who would like to gain experience and work in their \"dream\" computer sciences careers.

3) Whats your favorite movie?

Lord of the Rings trilogy

4) We need an up to date picture for the motm page, can we have one?

No

5) Whats it like having to deal with us, day in day out?

One Flew Over The Cuckoo\'s Nest comes to mind. Just kidding. Maybe.

In reality, it\'s alot of fun working with all of you, even though there can be a few stressful moments. We\'ve shared alot over the last year and a bit (some of us even longer than that as many of you were involved with Techgear and TCN, or got dragged along from The Haven...right, Shy?) There have certainly been alot of laughs, a few tears, but definitely alot of learning and sharing. It would be hard to imagine life around KillaNet without the core crazies.

6) How does it feel knowing alot of users have benefited from having KG/KN and etc, to come to when in need of help?

It\'s a very satisfying feeling, as I\'m sure all of you who have helped people know. It\'s a nice feeling watching someone who was very new to something...be it graphics, programming or scripting learn something, apply it, and then in turn be able to help someone else. Alot of you have grown into mature, productive young adults, and it\'s incredible how much most of you have developed. Needless to say, I am very proud of the lot of you.

Yes and no

2.) How does it feel having your picture pasted on the front of PSO\'s website for at least a year?

Just lovely /blink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

3.) How old are you REALLY?

Ancient, I told you that already

4.) If you didn\'t answer question #3 then what year were you born? If you did, then respond with \"YAY!\"

I\'m not sure what year it was, they didn\'t keep very good records that long ago.

5.) Can you name every single KillaNet staff member off the top of your head?

Yes

6.) How about every KillaNet member?

No, I tend to be forgetful. That happens when you\'re ancient.

1.) What\'s your favorite perfume?

Something with vanilla in it

2.) Have you been to college? What did you go mainly for?

Yes, criminology & forensics, then journalism

3.) What is your biggest inspiration?

The examples set by people who give because they can...Mother Theresa, Princess Diana, the Dali Lama. People who never give up no matter the odds..Terry Fox, Rick Hansen, Michelangelo, DaVinci. People who lead, not follow...Catherine the Great, Peter the Great, Alexander II of Russia, Alexander the Great, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King jr., Socrates etc. etc. etc.

4.) If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be?

That\'s a hard one to answer. Possibly one of the ancient Greek philosophers-Plato, Socrates...or the Romanovs, or the curator of the Alexandria Library before it was burned down.

5.) What\'s your biggest pet peeve?

I have two....one everyone here is well aware of: people referring to a mixed group of people as \"guys\" and the other is people who say they will do something then never follow through.

1) Do you have any phobia\'s? If yes then what are they?

schnnnnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakes

2) What have you learnt from being owner of killanet?

That we are really bad with deadlines /lmfao.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':lmfao:\' />

That a very diverse group of people *can* work together to accomplish many things, and that no matter how noble the cause and no matter the motives and successes, there will always be those people who will criticize what you do.

3) What techniques do use to try keep us under control?

I don\'t try to control any of you--that\'s an impossible task. What I try to instill in each of you is a sense of responsibility, to believe in yourselves and have pride in what you do.

4) What\'s your favourite novel?

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

5) If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would it be?

Well...by changing one thing in history, you could theoretically change an endless number of other events in history and consequently in the future. It would be difficult to pick one episode in history to change, as there are so many things which never should have happened (or should they?) However, seeing as you\'ve asked...I think I would like to make it so that the Romans had never burned the Alexandrian Library as so much knowledge of the ancient world was lost--knowledge which could have possibly prevented so many ensuing events and answered so many questions civilization has today. (Of course if the knowledge had been preserved, we wouldn\'t have all these questions of ancient events now, would we?) /bigwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

*would you ever consider wearing pink?

A very deep jewel-toned pink, yes. Pastel pink or hot pink...not in this lifetime.

*apart from cross stitching, do you have any other crafty type skills?

I can sew anything from tarot bags to medieval clothing, crochet, make paper, carve rubber stamps, paint ceramics & t-shirts, decorate cakes and arrange flowers. There\'s probably a lot more that I\'ve forgotten about but I\'d have to go look through my sewing room to remember what it is /blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

Oh, and I like restoring antique furniture.

*who is your favourite comedian?

Bill Cosby

*whats your favourite flavour coffee?

Irish Cream

*do you collect anything? (other than .com\'s)

brass items and books
