Graphics Contests

After looking at nem\'s entry for the wallpaper contest, I am thinking that perhaps we should have a \"Level 1\" contest and a \"Level 2\" contest. Maybe if we have a level that is just for beginners we will get more entries. The Level 1 competitions would focus on using certain design elements, and then maybe once an entrant has won \"x\" number of competitions, he or she can move up to the next level. What\'re your thoughts?

I think its a good idea, but I don\'t know if other people would enter if it wasn\'t for people like nem, yourself, and the other non-beginners entering first.. it\'d definitely help prevent the same people winning every time though <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... iggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

I think the worry is that entires are already quite low (ok, each week is different, but someones its only 1 person). If we split it up into 2 levels, there might be even less entires. <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... unsure.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':unsure:\' />

Or could it be that new people feel there\'s no point in entering because the \"level 2\" people are going to win anyway. Maybe a user poll is in order.

I made a post about this or maybe it was in chat, it was a while back when i posted about the Forum that was giving away an Xbox as the prize for a Signature contest, but like over there;

and etc... maybe we can make something like that, but make it more like.

then the same for Wallpapers, and i have to agree with scott, our entries are low as it is, spilting stuff up will just make them lower, and yes ada people might be \"scared\" to enter cuz they look and see that some other one is better or whatever, maybe up the \"cant win again for XX days/weeks\" so the same people dont always win? Another idea, maybe add another comp for Avatars, maybe that way the \"lower\" level people will enter, cuz they dont have to cover so much space, easier to make things look nice.

Sounds like a bad idea for the reasons Scott mentioned, would be better off to add a rule saying the same person cannot win more than once in a month.

In principle I agree with you both, but if we up the \"can\'t win\" weeks, we\'re going to lose even more entries. I like Jeremy\'s idea of an avatar contest. The winning avatars can be added to the forum avatar library or to gaming\'s avatar library depending on the theme, or both.
