Well...I went at looked at some sites which offer shared hosting, and I think there are alot of ppl out there getting ripped off lol

the fair ones seem to be priced around 10.00/month for the cheap plans, which offer the following:

free domain pointing
5gb transfer
200mb space
20 pop3 email accounts with auto responders and forwarding
webmail UI
spam blocker
Site Builder
Front Page Support
Urchin
FTP
HTDig

next was 19.95 for all the same basics except:

20gb transfer
750mb space
80 emails
SSL
DB Support
Velano Chat
local CGI directory

Then for 29.95 you could get all the basics plus:

40gb transfer
1500mb space
140 emails
Real Support audio/video
use your own cgi scripts

Or for 49.95 you get:

unlimited transfer
3000mb space
200 emails
your own control panel

NetNation\'s plans started at 11.95 (14.95 setup) with no db, no php/perl/python and 5 emails. Their most expensive plan was 49.95 (99.95 setup) which gave you two db\'s with 100mb db space. If you wanted a db, it was a 40.00 setup fee, real media for all accounts was an extra 10.00/month. You didn\'t get an included db unless you are either on the pro or power accounts, and even the power account only gets a 100mb db. Yet all accounts included SSL and a free secure server URL--dunno what use that would be without a db but meh.

Most cheap plans start with anywhere from 150mb of space up to 3000mb disk space, and one place offered unmetered bandwidth across the board. I think these companies threw darts at a board to decide who got what in their hosting plans, tbh.

Hence why I hate shared packages. I\'ll have a look at some of them tonight.
