Hurricane Rita...

Post by Tami »

...and how will it effect our network.

The datacentre is in a building rated to withstand F5 hurricanes, all bandwidth upconnection providers have their emergency plans in place, as does the actual datacentre. While they are operating with a \"skeleton\" staff, they are prepared with 10 000 gallons of extra fuel for generators, a backup generator is in place to assist the other backup generators, and the datacentre itself is prepared as well as it possibly can be, with extra equipment and supplies. If you have a site hosted with KillaHosting, please complete a site backup as soon as possible (today would be good.) We will be doing complete server backups as well. Understand that these processes *may* interfere with site accessibility but we are doing this to preserve all of the data on our servers. While sites are being backed up, they may become unavailable for short periods of time. Do not panic, they will be up once the backups are complete. If you need any assistance, please join us in chat and a staff member will try to help you.

Our datacentre is located approximately 100 miles from Galvestone, Texas which is where Rita is expected to hit. The centre is located inland, and the area does expect to feel the force of Rita but at an F3 rating, not the full F5. All windows have been boarded and reinforced, and everything that needs to be secured, has been.

Your patience while we deal with any situations which may arise due to this hurricane would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Not good news. I hope everything turns out good and hope no lives are lost in this hurricane like Katrina did to the southern US states.
