The Smallville Season 5 Thread

So many good things to look forward to this season. James Marster (Spike: Buffy the Vampire Slayer) will be joining the cast as Brainiac. Tom Wopat (Luke: Dukes of Hazard) will be making guest appearances, and Mr. Kent didn\'t die in last season\'s finale of destruction. Lois Lane will become a more permanent member of the cast....and other nifty stuff....like Lana\'s transformation...maybe....

According to reports, Aquaman will be some type of environmental superhero, who is going to teach Clark some global thinking. When we left Clark at the end of Season 4, he was in \"the Arctic\" and we were all thinking he is preparing to build his Fortress.

NightStorm pointed out that before Clark can build the Fortress though, his Earth father has to die. Well judging from pre-season news, it looks like Mr. Kent will be around for quite some time-at least through this season anyway-unless they are really keeping that part of the storyline under wraps.

Here\'s some news that no one else has--at least until tonight\'s t.v. news, probably. A cast or crew member was injured on the set of Smallville this morning and airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital. There is no word yet on who it the person was, other than male, but early reports are that the person injured his back but will be okay. How do I know this, you ask? Because they\'re filming in the studio which is on the same street as our office

What are you looking forward to in the new season of Smallville (which premieres in North America on September 29)

well i get really impatient waiting for new episodes so generally read so many spoilers that i forget to watch the episode!
i get my smallville spoilers at www.spoilerfix.com - be warned though, they get pretty detailed spoilers! lol

Some more on Auqaman... apparently he comes as a Swim Coach hired by lex to help with his swimming skill... who better to hire than a teenage prodigy that turned down a spot on the Olympic Swim team after swimming the 50 meter in a few seconds...?
I guess the season is supposed to open with Clark in a resteraunt watching the news and seeing the devistation that is caused in Smallville (now national news).
And the spacecraft that Lana finds at the end of Season 4? 2 Survivors of Krypton with a real bad attitude... did I mention naked?

Tonight\'s the big night....Clark is going to be told by Jor-El that he has to prepare to save the planet, we\'re going to find out who Lana sees in the spaceship, will Mr. Luther wake up from his trance? How did Mr. & Mrs. Kent escape that meteorite? And of course...just how bad has Lex become?

Awesome season\'s premier for the series. Lex didn\'t let down the expectations, he\'s gotten more devious since the end of last season, and somehow I don\'t think he and Clark are friends anymore. Clark managed to save the world again, but...was that...blood coming from his finger? Has he truly lost his powers? Oh and Mr. Luther-nice glowie eyes there dude, maybe you should lay off staring at the kryptonite in your vault. Figures that Luthercorp would end up with the spaceship, but I bet they didn\'t bet on having Brainiac ooze out of it and take form in the warehouse. Don\'t think I want to be those guards.

While they did a nice job on making the Kent farmhouse look like it was destroyed, I know for a fact that it\'s still standing intact, I\'ve driven past it since the premier was filmed. You\'d never know there was a big meteor shower & massive police car explosions down in the field either. I think they could\'ve done a better job on morphing the Fortress of Solitude out of the \"Arctic Snow\" but it still looked impressive.

The preview for next week looked like they\'re going to really turn on the heat this season and judging from the large amount of filming they\'ve been doing out in my neck of the woods, it\'ll be interesting to see what they\'ve got planned.

When you see the scenes with Clark \"hanging\" from a ceiling, those were filmed in the studio up from our office, and one of those film sessions is likely tied to the injuries sustained by the stuntman I mentioned in the first post for the season 5 thread, as he was hurt when he fell from the roof, where he was hanging from a vent.

what she said ^ lol, the premier was awesome, some of the CG was a let down, but none the less good, about time Chloe tells clark what she knows, and i wonder how \"honest\" Clark is going to be with Lana, i guess we have to wait and see, next weeks show, looks awesome... except i dont remember if it was \"coming this season\" or \"coming next week\" also wondering how long clark is going to be \"punished\" o.0

[spoiler]well that \"punishment\" didnt last long, lol, anyways this weeks ep was awesome, lots of drama, main thing is Clark died, was brought back, got his powers back, but now someone close to him has to die... Well if they \"follow\" the superman story, like ns said, its going to be Clark\'s dad.[/spoiler]

It\'ll be interesting now to watch the interaction between Lionel and Lex; the introduction of Aquaman this week should add an nice mix to things-which reminds me, what do you think Brainiac\'s been up to since he oozed out of the spaceship?

Establishing his place in Human society... very likely a very high place.
Brainiac was the primary computer on Krypton, that the entire Council (minus one) would consult regarding just about everything... it was because of Brainiac that the Krypton Society fell when the planet exploded. Jor-El warned the society that it would happen, and Brainiac (who had developed a form of self-preservation at any cost) informed them that Jor-El was mistaken and that the planet was simply suffering from a \'Pole Adjustment\' as had happened before. In the meantime, he was uploading his entire \'being\' (being his computer database with the entire history and records and data of Krypton) to a ship to save himself.
This would make Brainiac the most intelligent being on our planet now, given the advancements that Krypton had achieved before it\'s destruction. It would not be difficult for \'him\' to achieve a very high position in our society in a very short time, be it by \'good guesses and decisions\', or by eliminating someone else and simply taking their spot. The technology that is housed in the cyber-brain of Brainiac will make him very much a wanted individual by Lex-Corp, as it would set them forward a thousand years in technology and usher Lex\'s path into the White House as an adult (which happens in the DCU).
Prime example of the ammount of Intelligence that Brainiac houses, his \'Human\' name is \"Professor Fine\".

[spoiler]Also... a vampire named \"Buffy Sanders\"? Little close to the Slayer \"Buffy Summers\", ain\'t it? Especially with Spike already cast...?

And Princess Leia is now the Editor-In-Chief of the Planet, where Chloe goes to work... hmm... wonder when Lois picks up her journalistic ambitions (possibly sometime after her love afair with Aquaman?)?[/spoiler]

No, Superman is a label created by Lois Lane in her late-twenties. Right now, Superman does not exist. Up until that point, it\'s simply some unknown flying around Metropolis without any name... in fact, until she attaches a label to him, many speculate that he does not even in fact exist.
Geez... don\'t you rookies know anything? What are they teaching you in schools now??
Besides... Clark Kent is simply the name that was given to him while on Earth. When he travels to the City Of Argos, he is still known as Kal-El, Son of Jor-El, of the House Of El.
