Your 2006 Predictions

Alright....where do you think things are going in 2006?

For example, what do you think will be the technological breakthrough in the coming year?
Which big corporations do you think will form mergers?
What else do you think will happen in 2006?

Google will announce their own operating system. (They\'ve already got almost all the software that should be included on an OS... they just need an OS now.)

We will have disaster proof houses. Steel walls that are burried 20ft underground and 2-3 stories above ground.

Computers will have slim monitors less than an inch in width. Keyboards will become minimal and will be able to change what each key says differing in what language you want to type in (This has already been done and the technology has been posted here too) by the end of the year most software will require 1gb of ram to run.

Photoshop will become larger and take more time to load than right now

Google will expand in their services and their headquarters and employ more workers to create some of the worlds best software/internet applications

Games will soon be able to render realistic enviroments (Supposedly already possible with the XBOX 360) and be able to have amazingly high poly counts and games will soon have smarter AI.

Cure for common cold.

Cell phones will play 3d games......like guild wars /blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' /> hehe

KillaNet Technology Ltd. will have expanded like no other and soon be on it\'s way to being recognized by big conferences such as E3 and GDC for things we produce. We will also have masters of 3D who can create realistic renders good enough for film production..same goes with our 2D Graphic artists.

I will be a junior and thanking god I only have one more year of high school to suffer with.

Vercz will break his sugar addiction.

Being the conceited person I am, my predictions will obviously revolve around me. I believe that I shall gain power and become a respected man here if I act appropraitely and helpfully, I can then finally find a place to host my website and I will make huge wads of cash. I will use the cash to help the less fortunate which I doubt will be enough to satisfy everyone but will help a very limited few at least! And Killagraphix will become more famous after mass advertising and becomes one of the greatest networks ever! /blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

Cure for common cold. /blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />, the cold is like the flu, it mutates all the time (colds more rapidly) so unless u got a broad spectrum cold antidote which treats several million viable strains it aint ever gunna happen /blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />, rofl

2006 will bring the following probably...

in science the DNA mapping of more objects will have been done (they have already added monkey, dog and rice to the current DNA map)

stem cell research will probably be allowed which may lead to cures for many large untreatable diseases such as some cancers (even though christian groups will lobby against it and say its against gods will)

in computing HD-DV and bluray disks will be launched with up to 50gb storage per DVD and the whole VHS VS betaMax battle will be launched again as they fight over which to keep (im on the side of BluRay personally)

high definition tvs and monitors will become widley avaliable and LCD screens will be thinner then ever before

in mergers i can see MSN and yahoo being involved in projects together to take on google

google will take over AOL and use it as a frontend for their own ISP service which if done properly (wiping any trace of AOHell) will be a BIG success.

microsoft will launch their live selection of products and enter the internet market going up against google in a do or die style battle

people will lobby against the patents office and demand that patents are dropped when openoffice change their license so people who own a patent are banned from using their products as open source becomes much more popular.

small but powerful companies will release open source software like Xara or mabie IBM

microsoft will release a product aimed at the graphics market and will take on the huge Adobe & Macromedia partnership

that probably about does it (and mine are more realistic then Vercz will break his sugar addiction /blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />)

Ugh. My Predictions for 2006;

I will not get all the credits I need in order to pass year 12 and will have to do *stupid* catch-up work.

I will upgrade my camera, Kodak is very last 2004.

I will (eventually) get a laptop ready for Uni.

As others have said, Google will expand with more useful inventions that will dazzle us all; perhaps even global domination?

To be a bit of a downer, but i discussed this the other day with a friend; Another fatal terrorist attack, Osama Bin Laden will get another year of hiding, whilst the Middle East takes a beating for the US.

Microsoft will be trialled by fire due to more security holes, as well as several law suits for various copyright infringements and things of that nature.

World pollution will take an alarming jump up, with still sfa being done about it.

Petrol prices will have a gradual decline for a few months before rising steeply (like what has just happened, dropped here nearly 10c in a few months and then today was put up 6c like that)

Adaera will invest in a pair of shoes (*scoff* Ok so this one is a lie =P)
