Photoshop Scripting
Hey, I wasnt sure where to post this at...so you know...feel free to move it. But anyways, my computer teacher wants me to start learning some stuff about Photoshop Scripting. Now, I know absolutely nothing about it. I was wondering if anyone could give me some starting tips or somethin...Thanks

Honestly, PaddyB, I've never tried this photoshop scripting as I've never really seen the need for it nor have I known how to even do it. Maybe someone else on these forums could be of assistance; sorry I wasn't much help.

Paddy which version of PhotoShop are you using?
If you're on PhotoShop CS or CS2 then you have the scripting plugin already, as Adobe included it with the programme updates. If you are on PhotoShop 7 then you'll need this plugin.
Do you know anything about actions and batching in PhotoShop? If not, that's where you need to start.

One of the computers I use at my school has CS, and another has 7, so thanks for the link
/happy.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'^_^\' /> I've heard a couple people talk about actions before, but I dont really know anything about it, and I have no idea what batching is...so yeah. What exactly can I do with scripting anyways? Like, I know you can make photoshop do the same effects or somethin like that to a bunch of different photos without having to go into them each individually, but what other attributes does it have?

Yes, you have the right idea, Paddy. Actions let you perform a series of steps on either one image or a batch of images all at once. Action scripting is general used to speed up workloads, and is handy if you need to resize a folder of images (such as photos).
If your Actions Palette is not visible on your workspace, go to Windows > Actions and select it.

If you look inside the PhotoShop Actions Palette, you'll see that both CS and Image Ready CS come with a few pre-loaded actionscripts.

The actions which have words in brackets after them will only work in certain image modes.
For example, Cast Shadow (type) only works on a text layer.
To apply an action to an image, click on the action you want to use, then click on the Play control icon at the bottom of the actions palette.

Hey, sorry for the late reply, I didnt have a chance to try it out for the past couple of days. Thanks for the help Tami, I'm beginning to understand this action thing a little bit better. If I have any other questions I'll ask
