Ahead of the Curve Contest Drawing Talent from Far and Wide

Students striving for top spot in Alias design competition

Toronto, Canada - January 10, 2006 - Since its launch at 3December®, Alias' Ahead of the Curve design competition for students has been on the minds of many talented young designers. Looking for young designers on the leading edge of innovation, Alias is accepting designs that demonstrate exceptional creativity and skill. Now that a new semester has begun, students are once again focusing on their entries and ensuring they're ready for the May 31, 2006 deadline. Three winners will be chosen in each of the following categories: Automotive Design, Product Design, Film and Video, Games Asset Development and Graphic Design / 3D Illustration.

Prizes for Top Designs
First place winners in each of the categories will receive an incredible prize pack, including a digital camera, graphic card, Alias software and Alias Learning Tools. Winners' schools will also be awarded Alias software and educational products, giving winners the chance to contribute to their programs. Second and third place winners will receive a package of Alias software and educational products as well. Contest sponsors include HP® and NVIDIA®. Beyond the prizes, however, is the chance to gain recognition by industry peers and future employers, a priceless opportunity for students to get noticed.

Contest Details
Open to post secondary students as well as those in kindergarten through to grade twelve, participants can enter using either the Personal Learning Editions or full versions of Alias software. Designs can be created using any of the following Alias software packages: Alias StudioTools™, Alias ImageStudio™, Alias PortfolioWall®, Alias SketchBook® Pro, Alias MotionBuilder®, Alias FBX®, and Maya®. Multiple submissions are allowed.

Global Competition
To date, entries have been received from Canada, the United States and Japan, speaking to the universal language of creativity. Students can expect to be competing with students attending educational institutions from around the globe, allowing them to judge their talent on a broad scale. The classroom is no longer contained within four walls and Alias is excited to offer an opportunity for students to recognize their peers far and wide.
