I saw an interesting program on TV the other day about the sun and thought about attempting an image after seeing pictures of its surface. I played around with alot of brushes and bluring to achive the effects of the image and found the hardest part was getting the stars to look right. I think I might try some more work on this one to get the stars looking better, mainly the ones near the top where I wanted to creat a kind of star belt or feild which ever is the correct term. Any C and C welcome.

I actually like the stars, they were nicely done. The sun.. I think its missing something. I don\'t really know how to explain but when I look at it, I don\'t get an initial thought of, \'hey thats the sun\'

Ditto; I really like the stars, I think they look good, spot on infact. I agree with hoax on the sun, i think its needs to be fuller, but needs some red to contrast with the yellow and orange

Ok thanks for the comments so far. I was surprised by how you all agreed the stars looked ok, so as a result I decided to keep them as they are. I took on board the comments about the sun not really looking like a sun. I agree with you it looked abit dull and lifeless. I've gone back to the image with a fresh head and done some more work on it and added in alot more vibrant colours in there as well as alot more motion. I think the image looks much more complete but I may still try to add more to it, possibly tomorow so I can take a rest from the image for a while and come back with a fresh look.

Well I said I was going to probably do some more on it so I did, even though I wasnt planing on doing anymore on it today. Ive made the background stars abit more brighter and added in alot more gas clouds to add more colour to the mix, using reds like Endo said
/bigwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' /> I also moved the planets around abit and moved them closer to the sun to look like the are being engulfed by the suns expanding mass.

Thanks for the comments so far. I done some more work on the image and thought Id show it to get some more comments on its progression. Im not sure if Ive gone to far with bursts from the sun. Ive also added some surface texture to the sun.
As for a tutorial, I dont think I'll be able to do one for this graphic, as its now got to over 200 layers now. But in all honesty, there is no fancy techniques used in making this image. Its all just lots of brush wok, lots of blurring and a good understanding on how blending styles work and abit of time. I was supposed to Dren a tutorial on how I did my Bunnies image, but I havent even had time to do that yet. If I get chance I will try and do a brief tutorial that will be more of a show in the process more than a step by step guide on how to achive something like this and the Bunnies image because they are both the same effect.
