Hmm... what have I been doing...?
Well, this is (was) my couch. No, no one fell asleep smoking or anything. This is when a child decides to try an experiment to see what burns.
Guess who gets to spend tomorrow at the firehall with his step-father.

Oh geez Scott; that could have been so much worse (which I am sure you know).

What have I been doing? Very little. It\'s called burnout. I warned the staff months ago I was headed in that direction. Other than that, I have been tying up loose ends in my parents\' company because my brother and I will be taking it over by year\'s end. I have also been doing some research in regards to what direction to best take \'KillaNet Offline\' in.

lol yeah it could have been much worse.

Can we at least get rid of dead weight staff and \"start over\" with some (new) devoted staff? lol..

At the moment I\'m battling with Netenberg... but in a good way.
Since Netenberg is a cPanel partner, they only have basic coding for Plesk for their AccountLabPlus (which was originally coded for Plesk before being sold). So we\'re trying to get the new version ready to handle the Plesk API better than it ever has before, which will really help us out in the long run... especially since they\'re cleaning up the cPanel coding for it while they are in there.
We have to move fast though, as the demo license expires on the 2nd.

Their support is slow, but still infinately superior to swsoft.

Apologizes, and of course I have excuses accepted or not, but times just not with me this year. Its been a demanding year (with no sign of letting up) school wise, any free time I have is socializing (I know, it sounds horrible) or sleeping. Things will be changing for me very significantly in the next few months, perhaps alot sooner if some things change even more in the next month or 2. Ugg this doesnt really make sense, im so tired lol. Ill let you all know my reasonings asap

Alright, well, this place seems like it\'s not far away from death so I think it\'s time we had a few changes. Josh reminded me of the layout changes we had talked about at an admin meet not too long ago. I think something like this, with perhaps a few other changes could help.

As for staff, I don\'t think we really need any/many, and most of them aren\'t active anyway.

I don\'t want to see this die, hopefully we can turn things around soon. Although I think we do need to decide whether we want kn\'s main focus to be graphics or gaming. We have an established base for graphics, but very few active posters. All things offline seem to be aiming towards gaming, should this be our main focus? Should we try and work on the wiki idea?

Okay; what makes us unique? What are our specific interests? There are a kazillion sites out there, how can we be different...or conversely, how can we compliment them? We need to find a niche somewhere. Right now I have a few ideas cruising around in my head, but I don\'t think we have the staff interest to pull it off, and they all involve financial investment of some kind - yes, there are grants available as they are partly cultural, partly teen initiative, partly educational, but without a real direction to go in.....

Let\'s look at what we have

1. A hosting company
2. A graphics community sort of
3. A gaming community barely
4. Staff who aren\'t involved
5. A blogging site (yeah yeah I know my blog\'s outdated)
6. No specific projects or direction
7. The WIKI idea
8. Newsletter coded somewhere, nfi how to use it or if it\'s complete
9. I\'m sure there\'s more but my mind isn\'t firing on all pistons

In short, we need an identity and a direction, and then we need to figure out how we are going to get there, and what we\'re going to do when we do get there.

Most of the staff are entering or just finishing up the hardest parts of their school lives, being the end of their years in high school; others are entering post-secondary schools. Others have jobs, a couple of us adult types have house, family, work to consider.

Do we, or could we have, enough material coming in to keep something running? Is there are way to attract material coming in? What can we offer? What parts of other sites do we like, what parts are doable for us?
What areas should we look at more in-depth?

One area I have considered is a variation on CafePress..no not will all of the one-off ordering, but affordable bulk ordering of quality products for people to sell themselves, and we could offer store hosting; I don\'t know - this sort of evolved from the jigsaw puzzle and calendar publishing thought processes. Jigsaw puzzles are highly marketable, and if we offered them to digital artists without the process of a puzzle publisher like Whitman, who treat artists like authors (you submit your work, we\'ll let you know in 6 months to a year if we want any of it), then I believe we could make something of it. CafePress calendars and prints are notorious for inconsistent quality. There is a t-shirt printer near me which prints quality shirts at very reasonable prices, and offers a wide variety of inks. Perhaps we could strike some kind of deal with them. I .... don\'t .... know. Too much to think about all of the time, on top of my brother bugging me to finalize taking over the towing company. Let\'s use this thread to toss out ideas, even if you think it\'s stupid or impossible. We need to get the ideas flowing again and find a new direction. Then we will decide wtf to do about our staff situation.

10. An illegal logo.

We need to head in the direction that the offline killanet is going to do... What\'s the latest thing the city says about us anyways? What are we aiming at though for kn offline?

Personally I think we need to stop for a while, relax, KH is making some money, we can put some ads on here and try and get some more that way but I think we really need to just work on making KG active again.

We\'ve got 800 members and almost 30k posts, that\'s a fair amount. If we keep things going, we should be able to get a decent community here.

As for gaming, I don\'t know. I\'m no gamer, but I think we should keep it going too. The wiki idea I don\'t think would work, not at the moment anyway.

Staff, I think we need an ultimatum, post activly on one of the forums or get dropped. All excuses aside, if they can\'t contribute they shouldn\'t be staff.

Make a staff rules list =D

* All staff must post every 30 seconds or they get dropped from the staff roster.

---EDIT---

ABUSE ABUSE!

3:54p • Vulture smacks j00, keep it serious
3:55p (&dren) /cry.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />(!
3:55p (&dren) okay fine.. *edits*

Okay so I\'ll put something good here... Do we have a staff rules list? Cause umm... the only one I know of is obvious stuff like don\'t mention #kg, don\'t give out passwords, don\'t leak info from staff sections, blah blah blah.... common sense.

The wiki idea scares me... Cause I think scott brought it up, but he said what if no one updates it? I mean...the content there is based on people making/updating pages to make sure everything is current and up to date and uhh..the only game we really have is what, gw? lol...

Another very obvious rule that you frogot, Josh... if you commit to a project, unless something serious happens in yuor real life to prevent it being completed (like you die), the project gets done.
Case and point... the newsletter. Has anyone actually seen it, other than the few test emails half a year ago? Was the code ever actually completed? Where is it, and how does it work?
There\'s been too many cases where a project, and an entire domain gets dropped not because of low traffic, but because a staff member commits to finishing a major project on that section, and just fucks around and never gets it done.
I say it\'s time to put a foot down... and then lift that foot up and kick a few asses.

But that\'s just me... I\'m in a \"I want to kill someone\" mood today.
