Well part of my 3.2 internal for Visual Arts was to make a digital composition revolving around the topic of cultural identity. Although its just layers and stock images, the purpose was to relate to the title. So breaking it down, the reflection in the water is the opposite to what NZ has to offer, so to speak.
The Koro\'s (those big green things) are native to NZ (taste like asparagus too) are reflecting the use of nuclear power and something we dont want.
Small white churches are somewhat very iconic to new zealand and its small rural landscapes, its hard to not find one. I decided to invert the image to contrast it with the landscape, and also to make it stand out more. Its reflection is of a derelict building, which corrosponds with the fighter jet flying past, showing war/destruction etc.
The tiki carving layer in the sky is just to represent the maori significance in new zealnd.
So yeah. I was going to add more in to the image, but it gets to cluttered, I could get the same idea across with less I guess but I didnt have time to get it done. I like it.
C&C appreciated.

I think you\'ve chosen the images well. It shows that you put some thought into this composition & I particularly like the nuclear power plant reflection under the plant stalks - imo, that says even more than the church\'s reflecting building skeleton.

The only thing that honestly looks out of place in my eyes is the church.. Dunno, just doesn\'t seem like it was lit correctly.

Great peice this one Endo, I really like it. I think youve definatly achieved your goal when setting out with this image. I love the reflected images in the water and how you used the idea of opposites in an almost cynical way, it helps to add to the emotion and message of the peice. The only thing I feel that looks out of place is the mauri mask although I do understand why it is in the image because of the mauri being an important part of NZ's history. I think you might be able to find another way to get their influence into the image without having it as it is at the moment. It keeps pulling my eye away from the other items within the image and seems a little overbearing on the peice. I think maybe making it smaller/simpler and slightly more discrete would help out.
Really great peice though bro.

Thanks to@ds. Hm, I can see where your coming from. Really the koro is enough; during one stage i did have a totem pole of a really cool carving further back in the landscape but it wasnt very detailed when I printed it, which was the how it was to be marked. If only i had the psd I would try some other things..will have to get it off my school account after the holidays.
