Capcom shows off Dante, Joe and the new face of fear
Devil May Cry 3: Dante\'s Awakening

The man from Capcom was barely through the doors of PlayStation.com before we wrestled the DMC3 code from his hands and reverently placed it in the disc tray. We\'re happy to report it\'s a return to form for the half-demon Son of Sparda.

Devil May Cry 3 is a prequel to the first game, finding Dante establishing his office that will one day become his \'Devil May Cry\' investigative agency. From the opening movie you know you\'re in the presence of something pretty special. When demons invade his premises Dante flips out and begins the wildest, most hilarious fight scene we\'ve seen. At one point, he flips a pool table and as the balls are flying through the air, he \'breaks\' by blasting the cue ball, sending the other balls ricocheting off the demonic trespassers. It could be cheesy, but it\'s all rescued by a thick coating of tongue-in-cheek humour.

Once in the game it\'s just as madcap, with Dante surfing around on downed enemies and spinning in the air, guns-akimbo, for 360-degree carnage. You can also choose Dante\'s combat style to focus on your favourite form of slaughter - up close, ranged, evasive or defensive, bringing a whole new level to the gameplay. DMC3 is released this March - look out for more info as soon as we put the game through its paces.

Viewtiful Joe 2

Fans of the weird and wonderful Viewtiful Joe will be over the moon at Joe\'s return to the screen, as Capcom\'s Clover Studio has remained faithful to the original. All the style, all the humour and all the VFX powers are back, along with playable Sylvia (complete with Boxing Glove Gun) and one new VFX power - Replay. Similarly to Prince of Persia you can rewind time and play it back to triple the effect of a power-up, or inflict three-times more damage with a single attack!

It\'s all looking good - if a bit familiar - and we\'ll bring you the low-down in a full Playtest before its April release date.

Haunting Ground

It may have the most misleading game title of all (because it doesn\'t actually feature any ghosts), but Haunting Ground is sure to set spines a-tingling and nerves a-fraying when it hits stores this April.

The game follows a young woman called Fiona, who awakes after a head-on car crash to find herself locked in a cage in a castle dungeon wrapped only in a satin sheet. Not very scary so far. But introduce one lumbering, sausage-fingered, drooling, groping, moaning giant moron whose intentions veer from homicidal to decidedly perverted, and you begin to see why you\'ll want Fiona to run away and not look back.

Like Capcom\'s Clock Tower 3, this is survival horror where \"survival\" means run and hide, not open up with your SMG. Fiona has no defences other than a distracting kick and relies on quick wits to avoid and outrun her assailants.

Yes, there\'s more than one. In addition to the hulking Debilitas described above, there\'s a psychopathic lady armed with a shard of glass and an ever-present Alchemist who has set these two freaks on you to harvest - get this - your womb!

To offset the warped storyline, you befriend a white Alsatian dog called Howie, who\'s also trapped in the castle. Using the good old \"sit, stay, kill!\" routine, you can call on Howie to aid you in your escape plans. We\'re not looking forward to playtesting this, but if we get out from under the covers any time soon you\'ll get one before the end of April.
