As this incredible new trailer proves, Spartan: Total Warrior provides battles bigger than anything we\'ve seen before on PS2. There are hundreds of soldiers at your command, numerous mythological monsters to fight and you\'ll be standing slap bang in the middle of the lot.

The game is a continuation of the Total War series, popular with PC gamers. Total Warrior significantly reduces the beard stroking academic side of things by placing you as a Spartan warrior, dishing it out up close and personal, rather than a sidelined general merely issuing orders from afar. You\'re still in charge though, so don\'t forget to shout the odd command to your troops in-between eviscerating your foes and running from skeletal hoards.

We\'re particularly excited about the potential promised by the weapons; such as catapults, siege engines (castle-breaching towers on wheels) and that famous historical weapon, the ancient Greek flamethrower. With meaty combat and tactical elements, Total Warrior looks set to offer a great mix of action and strategy. Here\'s hoping the game\'s September release will offer a change from our usual fix of playing chess in the road.
