Let\'s be clear about this from the start: we do have our reservations. If any of the following words or literary imagery sounds overly excited, it\'s representative of our love for Star Wars, not our anticipation for the new game exactly. After all, we\'ve had our fingers burnt by the series before (um, Clone Wars), but we are willing to keep an open mind - for now
Trawling through the film\'s entire plot in a fanpleasing amount of detail, Sith will present every one of the film\'s action scenes in gaming form. And with Lucas\' latest promising to be the series\' most vicious yet (check out the shots for a glimpse of Anakin all eviled up and on the Jedi-murdering warpath), you can\'t deny that there\'s a huge allure in seeing Anakin corrupted, the Jedi fall and the Emperor kicking off.
You play as either Obi-Wan or Anakin and you\'re able to swing a lightsaber and issue devastating attacks - using either light or dark force powers, depending on which character you choose. Check out these shots for a glimpse of the variety of characters on show, including Christopher Lee\'s Darth Tyranus/Count Dooku, a new \'saber-wielding Jedi-hunting droid, General Grievous and Samuel L Jackson\'s Mace Windu fighting Anakin. Thrilling stuff, eh?
From what we\'ve seen it seems that all this occurs in beat-\'em-up-style battles, which is where our reticence begins to kick in. This may be perfect for the big fights - including what must be the game\'s final level, the ultimate showdown between Obi-Wan and Anakin - but we\'re still unconvinced as to how it will pan out for the non-spectacle bits. The game\'s promotional literature promises that the title will go (in some cases, beyond key story elements), but if that means you\'ll be forced to contend with wave after wave of battle droids and evil Sith henchmen, then we\'d rather throw ourselves into the pit leading to the Death Star\'s main fusion reactor, thanks. Plus, the wounds are still open from PSone horror, Star Wars: Masters Of Teras Kasi - which threw Star Wars characters into a Street Fighter setting and failed monumentally - so we\'re sure you can understand our weary attitude
But even so, we still desperately want to get our hands on this because, and here\'s the thing, sword-wielding games currently leave a lot to be desired. Dynasty Warriors, Devil May Cry, Prince Of Persia, Onimusha and Lord Of The Rings all rely on simple button pressing which, if you think about it, is a massively unrealistic interpretation of waving your arms around. If LucasArts gets this right, a decent character control system - which is being promised thanks to involvement from the film\'s stuntman and lightsaber expert, Nick Gillard - could make Revenge Of The Sith the best weapon-based game we\'ve seen in a while. Or maybe it will all be a monumental <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... nsored.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(cens)\' /> up? It\'s not like Star Wars hasn\'t disappointed us before. (Three words: Jar, Jar and Binks.) And, hey, at least we\'ll still have Lego Star Wars to fall back on, right?
