[i][b]Why change the BIOS on my Xbox?[/b][/i]

An Xbox is basiclly a specially-designed PC in a small box. A BIOS chip is built on the Xbox motherboard but the Xbox was designed in such a way that it does not allow easy upgrade or modification to the BIOS. When you change the BIOS on your Xbox with a mod chip it opens many doors and lets you customize your Xbox to suite your needs.

Almost all xbox mod chips have a default legal BIOS. The most popular BIOS that come standard are either a modified linux kernal like the Cromwell BIOS (completely legal) or a custom BIOS like the Xenium OS2 (also legal).

The only down side to the legal BIOS' is that they are a starting point to add another BIOS. Thats right, these BIOS' dont have any of the cool features that the "illegal" BIOS' have.

It's really quite simple but on the other hand not.

Illegal BIOS' use hacked Microsoft code. Althought Mircrosoft has not proven this.

Its highly speculated that someone aquired a Mircrosoft game devople kit and "took" Microsoft code. That is illegal so in turn the illegal BIOS are illegal because they use code that was used without Microsoft permission.

Sorry I can't help you. If they were legal I would tell you right where to find them but they are not so you are on your own.
