Students throughout the country are beginning to see the fast growing industry of computer, but the biggest misconception is that they want to be computer science engineer majors.

The top schools in computer science have the following required courses:
Calculus I and II (some require 3 calculus classes)
Physics (in depth)
Circuits
The basis of operating systems
The foundation of programing languages
Algorithms
And more really hard classes

The average computer science engineer has a GPA of about 2.3-2.6 with the top level GPA range starting at 3.3
The fact is, engineering programs are HARD, and do not give some students what they really want from their degree program. Many students end up asking "where are the security classes, and the programing classes?" "where are the classes for e commerce, and project management" The answer is here:

Information technology, NOT Computer Science.

Information Technology (also known as MIS, ISDS, IT, IS, and ISIT) have the following required classes:
usually a simple calculus class
accounting and economic classes (needed for e commerce)
Visual Basic programing
Security A+
Database development and security
web development (including web gaming development)
Project Management
Data handling
And more classes...

these tend to be not as difficult as the engineering programs and have proven to be the keys needed for success for students looking for programing jobs or project management jobs.
