CSS Question

Post by Sylo-X- »

Okay okay okay...This might be a little confusing but bare with me. This came to me in a dream.

Okay lets say i have my beautiful CSS website. yep beautiful. Now on this beautiful website i have my navigation fully coded in CSS. Now I know how to style my links so when you put your mouse over it it changes color and other cool effects. My question is. Can you use CSS to make it so that every time you put your mouse over the link it randomly chooses a color for the mouseover. or if not random choose from a list of colors that is coder specified?

You\'ll need to use javascript for this. I\'m not sure how, though.

javascript isnt bad, what is bad is the ways it is implemented, as long as javascript goes by the holy law of graceful degredation (if something breaks or is turned off, it wont affect how the site works) then its a great way to enhance a page.

EG: only use javascript if the script is going to give additional functionality over and above the basic level (that way you can still browse the site perfectly with JS turned off however for those who have it turned on, they get increased functionality, therefore its left up to the user to if they trust the site enough to enable it on a site by site basis)

Yeah thats why I was hoping there was a way to do it with CSS because personally i never have javascript enabled unless its absolutley neccisary and i never bother with home made webpages that need javascript in order to function.

CSS is just for styling the content, not for making it do anything fancy. javascript is the only way, and shanes link is exactly what you need.
