I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that it "will come with my windows xp" but I guess there's Sygate personal firewall. I think that's what it is called. I honestly don't use a firewall, they've always just caused me trouble with applications that need to reach the internet.

yeah firewalls are trouble most of the time. I would only use one if you think you may be at risk of a hack attempt or you have very important personal information on your computer.

Sygate Personal Firewall is pretty unintrusive, it just asks for permission on the initial launch of programs accessing the web, its free and it doesnt need any updates and even better... doesnt use much memory so doesnt slow down the pc /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' /> you can turn off the popup messages for it to cut down on the clutter it makes in the options menu by turning off notification messages (their annoying) in the general tab.

You can also download Zone Alarm.
Firewalls are pretty important, especially if you've got broadband. In many cases people got hacked with-in minutes of connecting to the net with broadband/no firewall.

Currently I'm running the windows firewall, seems alright, does the job, don't need anything better for now.

Your router acts as a sudo-firewall though, Dren... unless you have the port forwarding enabled and actually redirecting everything at your PC, it gets stopped at the router.
