New Computer, New Problem.

Ok so yesterday I bought a new computer and today I installed it. Actully, to be honest, my brother did it. But anyway, to the point, I have a 250 gig hdd installed, however the computer only reads about half of that (127 gig).
So, Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is? I've looked at my bios and it appears to be the most recent version. I'm running MS SP2 but even on the initial HDD format it only gave me the option of formating 130gig.

Computer Specs:
(CPU) Amd Athlon 64 dual core 3600+
(Motherboard) Asus M2N-MX with onboard graphics card, (nvidia 6100 or something as such, which is 256mb), gigabit lan, and audio(Sound Max or something).
250gig hdd
430W PSU

I gotta say the computer runs very smoothly and quickly, and its even much quieter than my previous one. All thats left is to fix the damn hdd problem.

Anyway, help would be appreciated.

Start > Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk management. There it showed up with a partition which needed to be formatted so i did that, and now I've got the rest of the hdd in a different partition.

I think its a SP2 thing, because without SP2, I couldn't find that extra partition. So I think windows just allows 130gig maximum without SP2 installed.

Hey a quick question, does anyone know what temperature their CPU and motherboard run at?

at the moment my CPU is 40c and motherboard is ranging 31-35C. (HDD is 20C <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... iggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />)

OK, just wondering about my own temperatures.
Currently they are:
CPU: 35C
MB: 35C

However, when I play a game or something they go up as high as 48C(CPU) and 45C(motherboard.) (That's just from what I've seen. I have never let them go any higher because I quit the applications.)

So, is there anything to worry about or are these types of temperatures normal?

yeah. ive had those temps. had my cpu running ~60 sometimes. mostly during summer, with the case on playing games <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... >/blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

at the moment i run with the case off, with 3x80mm case fans, 1x40mm and a 60-80mm on the CPU, and a 60mm (i think) on the graphics card. so theres a bit of air flow <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Its currently quite cold. I have one side of the case off. I have 1x 80mm fan inside to suck in air. The standard CPU heatsink fan, and the PSU fan.

Looking at the PC probe its giving me a threshold of 60C for the CPU, and a threshold of 45C for the motherboard which I have already reached while playing a game on a moderately cold day. Now this PC Probe thingamabob is from the Manufacturer of the motherboard so I don't know if those threshold values are accurate.
I Guess the temperature that I am mostly worried about is the motherboard.

Well the heat issue has been fixed.
To do this, I just created 2 'speed holes.' One on the front and one on the side of the case, where the fans are attached. (Added an extra fan). Now the motherboard temperature is about 32C while just running, and when running a game, it gets about as hot as 35-36, also my cpu temperature went down a bit.
I Think i can even improve on this because there are some holes in the computer(at the back where theres holes for extra network cards/modems etc.) through which cold air 'leaks' out of. So I'm just gonna plug the holes(not permanent) which should help lower the temperature even more.

lol, now I'm having a hard drive problem. My system is only showing 127gb of space on my hard drive yet I have a 300some gb hdd... Interesting. k...figured out. I got PartitionMagic and saw that the hdd wasn't completely formatted so I formatted, and merged. lol All's well <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... >/blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />
