A Deal With GameXplore

I recently entered into a deal with GameXplore, the company which publishes The Book of Games (we have reviews for both volumes 1 & 2 posted in the community). This deal involves furnishing them with game reports in exchange for the services of their videogame infolink feed. Having the feed (and publicizing the fact that we have it) could increase our traffic and usership (I hope).

gameXplore InfoLink automatically feeds game data, gameplay descriptions, graphics and videos of new games to online retailers and media companies. The service keeps our customers up to date with the latest information on video games and provides browsing customers with the information needed to make qualified game purchases.

This is a service whose fees start at 1800.00 USD per month for usage. If you wish to participate in the programme, you need to follow the criteria laid out below - these pages are from volume 2 (my personal review pdf issue, hence the watermark with my name, they are posted here with permission from the publishers). They are developing an official "game sheet" but it's not complete yet; I am also waiting on a bit more information, such as what is the cut-off date for game releases. We will need to cover games which were released after volume 2 went to press, but as I don't know when that was, I can't tell you until they tell me.

Participation is entirely voluntary, and there is no minimum/maximum number of games you as an individual need to provide information on - however, if you say you are going to cover "game whatever" you will be expected to follow through with that commitment. GameXplore is also providing a set of the books for the prizelist for DSL 2008.

This is the format used in Volume 2, and thus far has been stated as the format for Volume 3, which will be published in Fall 2008.

Well, that's good (that Mike will review Orange Box) considering Steam insists on installing to my small hard drive (as opposed to the external 320gb drive that I run GW from), and I don't quite have enough space to even install Orange Box (I actually barely can fit one of the games on here at the moment alone).
Other than that, I think this is a phenomenal opportunity on so many levels. Of course the obvious, we will have the chance to sample and run their software on our site in return for reviews (something for nothing, since you would be playing the games anyway <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... igwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />), but we can also look into the fact that this could turn into an amazing business relationship leading to potential sponsorship and extensive press and advertising (as Tami pointed out, this is a great chance to bring in new blood... I mean, new members).
Of course, it would be nice to hear from some of the other staff on this as well. In fact, (insert sadistic side) given the magnitude of this "announcement", why don't we make it mandatory to see a well-thought-out reply from all the staff? <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... >/blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

Not quite sure how I want to reply to this post lol. This is a wonderful opportunity and I'm glad that GameXplore has allowed us to participate. Not sure how much help I can be in the actual playing / reviewing of games seeing as I own no gaming consoles besides the PC and at that rarely play anything more complicated than freecell / spider solitaire. Aside from the actual use of the game, when school / my parents permit me to have free time I would like to do whatever I can by way of research / finding screen shots / proofreading. Just reformatted my computer and the new quarter ( or semester if you want to call it that) is starting Dec. 3rd so not sure how much time I have available to commit at the moment.
