hello everyone,

I have a technical prob with a computer.....hard drive has been formatted and now it doesn't recognize the cd roms or the floppy drive :censored: .....i want to make it WORK.....WORK IT! :chainsaw:
errrrrm.....any help would be much appreciated

Sounds like a bios problem.. :)

That is assuming you only format'ed and didn't mess around with any of the IDE cables inside the case.

But.....But.....But....i didn't do anything to the bios or cables
Not only that, but it won't LET me access the bios ;wtf:

I REALLY want to fix this computer - niece needs one now, but she can't afford one.....please, help computer-needy-adolecent-female-teens and make a donation to the "Help Dio Fund" by contributing the answer that will help Dio fix this :censored: problem :D

It could have been a bad OS installation. Try formatting again?

not sure about this but dont you need a disk/floppy to format your computer? and sence his computer doesnt register either one it might be a problem. :huh:

ok......see, i can't get into my device manager, or any other admin tools because it doesn't load windows because the hard drive has been formatted. When I power up the dumb-patience-testing-machine, it goes right to a DOS screen saying:

Looking for boot record from floppy....not found [but has a problem identifying a disk in the floppy]
Looking for boot record from cd rom...not found [but does not recognize cd in drive]
Looking for boot record from ide...o.k

BUT THEN.......it says

invalid system disk
replace the disk and press any key

:huh:

it USE to have windows 98 on it

i'm very close at this point to throwing the whole thing in the dumpster :throw:

I misread what you said in the first place so nm.. i realised after saying try format again that it wouldn't work so er yeh.. just buy a new hdd

lol yay, a clean karma.. although, if it's the bios that's screwed you'll need a new mobo not a new hdd :P
