Stop All The Clocks

Here is a poem that I had to study at school. Its about the death of the loved one. I dont know why I like it so much. I think the words just stroke a chord with me. What do you think guys and gals? Im not sure if he was British or American, but I know its definatly one of them.

Stop all the Clocks

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

I know I didnt write this poem but I thought Id share it all the same. Sorry for this post, and whinning like baby :s

That is a truely great poem. Some of the lines in that are amazing, i love the line 'Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead'.

By just looking at the first stanza i wasnt sure is it was a comedy poem or not, lol (Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,).

[b][i][color=\"gray\"][font=\"tahoma\"]It describes accurately the feeling in every person who has ever lost a person they trully loved, whether it be a partner or a family member, i dont think there is anyone here who can honestly say they have never felt like the person described in the last 2 paragraphs. I know i have.
