me again!

okies, back again- must be the cookies.

I've been talking in the room recently with a few of you about sageweb and the layout. i want to make it stand out a whole lot more, look a whole lot more 'professional' and appealing. the graphic ive come up with might not fit that bill, but with a little help from you guys, i'd like to see where it'll lead me.

when i make a webpage i usually find a graphic, or part of an image i like and work from there, trying to build a page from it. Thats why theres only one image to look at so far. I have a rough idea of how i would like to layout the rest of the page (main text and links etc) but would first like to invite you guys to mess around with what i came up with.

The ripple image i created was originally in this color: http://www.sage-web.com/1sageweb.jpg but i later changed it to a red: http://www.sage-web.com/1sageweb2.jpg.

right now i think this will make the site too dark, although who knows what the hubby might like in the end. im shooting for a lighter green color, but like i said, who knows what he might go with in the end.

The main problem right now is that when i put this image onto a page it wont blend in with the background color. i tried selecting an area , and smuding the outlines, but still its outlines are too harsh and stand out. Any advice on how better to blur this into the background, or a suitable background would be much appreciated.

I'm not to sure if i posted this in the right area, so if you do move this thread, please let me know where you put it as i still get lost around here! lol.

i look forward to hearing your critique and seeing what you might be able to do with it in your spare time.

thanks again

Instead of smudging the image, try using your eraser tool to fade it out. Set it to a medium sized brush, with a mid to low opacity, and just work the edges slowly until your happy. My only quarm with th eimage is that its too dark, so Im just agreeing with what you said in your post. Keep at it though, you'll get there in the end /bigwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

thanks for the help toads. i would have never thought about using the eraser tool that way, but it worked really well. unfortunately, after looking at the finished product (erased and with a color change) i was still unhappy with the end result. so i decided to leave it for a bit.
when i was doodling again in paint shop, i started to fiddle around with the flood effect i had used to create that image, and wound up with something i liked. ive since tried to turn it into a webpage for our site, and would like some opinions on it. its only a screenshot right now as i cant remember the path for uploading to our website, but i'll post that link as soon as rift gets home.
i made a banner/signature in the begining. it has a green flood effect in the background. then to the right i added several grey tonned elipses in the shape of a flower. after 'twirling' them and adding a weave texture i plonked a rain drop in the middle of it. yes, truly, i plonked it there.
so from there ive explanded it to create what you see now. its definitley a step up for me i think, so thanks for all the advice and support:)

okies.....

Looks really nice /good.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(Y)\' /> , I like how the layout is really clean, I also like the graphics on the site as they fit the overall color scheme... I\'d say a job well done /biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />
'class KPIM::ProcessManager' only defines private constructors and has no friends <- :( poor class

Looks great. I love it. Looks loads better than the current one. I might be wrong about this, but is the Sage text black? If it is (I cant tell for sure from the screen shot sorry) try changing it to a dark green instead. Other than that I think it looks great. The "plonking" of the drop was good too, I like it /bigwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' /> /bow.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(bow)\' />
