New Magazine: Jim Daly - Edutopia

Edutopia, the first magazine by filmmaker George Lucas’ educational foundation, launches this month with Academy member James Daly as Editor In Chief. The magazine will showcase the best and most innovative thinking in public education, as well as reveal the roadblocks and question the status quo. Edutopia is the first magazine launch for Lucas. Just as he envisioned new intergalactic worlds 30 years ago, today he envisions a new world of learning and a change in society’s beliefs about education. "Here we are entering the 21st century, and we are doing things based on 19th century ideas and methods,” Lucas says. “The digital divide is not about who has access to what technology but, rather, who knows how to create and express themselves in the language of sound and images." Edutopia is put out by the George Lucas Educational Foundation and launches as a bimonthly publication.
