hiya
i have an idea i\'d like to run past you
first of all, it would be something i would spend all day nagging sean to get done not you, so dont get stressed over ANOTHER project lol.
how about a killanet messenger?
*i was thinking that sean could make it interact with hotmail, aol and yahoo messengers so that those contacts can be added to the list.
*at the bottom, instead of the annoying banner ads from msn it could have that weeks banner winner displayed there - or could be set to display a random banner, if they wanted. it could, like jakes program - download that weeks banner winner and be displayed giving another incentive to enter the banner comp...the banner could also be a direct link to the forum when they click on it......its more advertising for killanet and the winners each week.
*there could be a section where it could display who is in the chat room and who is active
*there could be a section telling you if you have any new killanet mail..
*you could of course pm people on the list
*more variation in smilies which would be a good advert for the smily generator people you have the hosting account with - could link back to them
*could let you know if there are any votes/polls going on that week, perhaps letting you remotley register your vote
*could tell you when a topic you post is replied to
*tell you the most active topics for that day
*for the gamers it could display a weekly list/daily list of who\'s top champ of what game.
*calendar feature
......lots and lots of things.....it could of course start off nice and simple lol.
im assuming sean can code all of this, but he once said he could create a 3d messenger window for shy in a few hours, so if you gave a green light for this, i know i could get him to work on it and have a beta out probably within a week
id like to do this as it would be a project we could all work on (you the yes no side legal side, him the code and me the nagging wife lol)
i also like it because the banner competition winners would get to have their banner on everyones desktop who uses it
the plus side for people wanting to use it are the lack of advertisements, probably less holes than msn could ever hope for........it would also hopefully become popular to where many members would download it...
sean and i could probably host it on our site to
it gives us a chance to contribute to killanet in a big way and for sean to say \"yes i am a god, look what i made\" lol.
i imagine it would be as widely used as jakes program and hopefully both in time would reach a wider audience....the plus side definitley being the lack of adverts displayed on it, and being a handy tool for those who use the killanet sites a lot to keep updated.........should all these different features be added. plus, i\'m kinda bored with msn messenger, yahoo scares me with all the beeps and gongs, i wont go near aol, and it wont feel like there are any strings attatched.
k, now ive probably sent you to sleep or given you a headache.
i pm\'d you this instead of making another post in the staff section, as its something i would really like to see sean make and be able to take credit for. i want to get him back in the coding saddle so to speak lol
so just let me know what you think:)

the ideas are good, but this is definitely something that needs to land in programmers. let them all faint at the same time......or die laughing

Oh I know it does, NS...and both nem & Shy (you can bet they\'re in cahoots on this) have been told several times that we HAVE a messenger, it just needs to be branded and tweaked. Obviously the message didn\'t get received, so I don\'t know how else to get the message through other than to post a synopsis in Programmers and let Rift see what his wife is volunteering him for. I won\'t mention any names but I\'m sure that he\'ll figure it out.
