The 3rd story.

Post by Sp3culuM »

Hmm. Well, I was told that Tuesday is my day, and it's Tuesday in England.. so here it is. I only found out about an hour ago that the image has to be something we've made, so I quickly whiped out Bryce 5 and rendered a very, very simple image. Although i'm sure you could make some nice stories out of it..?

[color=\"gray\"][font=\"tahoma\"]How could this be, this time yesterday this was all dry and flat, barron, windswept. Today it looks like an ocean. We have been praying for rain for months, it seems as though all our prayers were answered in that horrible 2 hours. The house... gone, the car... gone... All my memories of my childhood are gone, the only thing that remains is the old gum tree out the front. What will i do, what if the insurance company refuses to pay on a technicality, i dont think im strong enough to sustain another emotional blow like that, my life was ruined in less than 12 hours. It is amazing how rapidly one's life can take a turn, and when travelling at this speed, you can rest assured it's going to be a turn in the wrong direction. It's not like he didn't know the risks, living on the edge of the desert like he did, but still when something as natural as a flood happens, one is always amazed with the rapidity it occurs, and how truly unprepared one is when it does happen. Would he have been any better off if he had heeded all of those disaster preparedness flyers the local government distributed in the post 4 times every year? He guessed it was a little late to answer that one, because here he was, staring at the old gum tree and the ocean of water stretching out over what had been his land; well, truth be told, it was the bank's land. He wondered if his bank manager would like lake front property, because if his insurance company refused to help out with this disaster, and if the waters didn't recede soon, the bank would be removing his name from the title.

After 2 hours it became apparant that the waters were not receding, but rising alarmingly fast. The small island that used to be the hill overlooking his beachfront house was shrinking rapidly and the thoughts of Insurance and Money were pushed from his mind, replaced by the familiar, icy fear from his childhood - drowning. It was no longer a matter of convincing the Insurance Company to pay for his house, it was now a matter of life and death. As he looked around he knew he was helpless. He had moved back to the beach not long ago, as an attempt to conquer his phobia of water, that had started 30 years ago when he was only a small boy...

though, that phobia had been imprinted into his life, heart and soul for eternity. Had it not been for that horrific day, this phobia he carried around with him would cease to exist. Just thinking about it, even seeing the date, floods his head with images in which he cannot escape. The images were far to realistic to nullify. The feelings that rise from those thoughts and images onslaught to his fists, where the only thing left to rid himself of the boiling aggression is to cry. Tears stream down his face, as he falls to the floor. Nothing can be done nor said to dismantle them. Sleeping pills send him to the tranquil place in which he craves...
