Story Part 4

Post by Tami »

..........as Jane stood looking at the ragged girl before her, a scene flashed through her mind. She saw the trading post, but it wasn't really the trading post. The store was empty save for the table everyone sat at to warm themselve with coffee or hot chocolate. Even the mirror reflected an empty room. The only thing she noticed that wasn't right was the bookshelf, but she couldn't figure out why.

Slowly her eyes focussed on the little girl again, and it dawned on Jane that she was soaking wet. She also realized the girl didn't seem to feel the cold, she just stood there.

"Where did you come from," asked Jane..........

Story Part 4

(I used to love writing as a child but computers have seemingly taken over my life. This has brought my love of writing back from the dead <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />)

As they sat in the room they noticed it changing. The plaster walls morphed into pieces of wood, the square window looking out into the lush forest changed into, what seemed to be, a rectangular mirror. A bookcase appeared as if out of nowhere. The door faded away, to be replaced with a section of a wooden wall. There was no light in the room anymore, the only source, the window, was now only a mirror.

Suddenly, a light above the table flickered on. They never had a light in the room, or infact, their entire house. Lit by the sun during the day, lit by candles at night. One of the people got up from the table, went to the mirror and tried to look through it. As he put his hands against the mirror he screamed. The most terrified scream a person could make. He was being sucked in to the mirror.

The only other person, a girl, jumped up from the table and tried to pull him out. The force was too strong. The man's feet were the last thing to be dragged into the mirror. The girl, still frantically trying to rescue this man, screamed. And suddenly, with a loud pop the man was gone.

The girl sat down at the table and analyzed what had happened. The room had changed, she didn't know where she was, and the only apparent way out of the room was the mirror. She breathed deeply once, and then fainted on to the table. As she did so, she knocked her head on the hard, wooden surface.

She woke up.
