Get Inside The Creative Mind

Post by Tami »

INSIDE GAME DESIGN
by Iain Simons

• Ever wanted to get inside the mind of a videogame designer? Iain Simons does just that by not only looking at the process of making a game, but also exploring how it feels to make one.

• Through in-depth interviews with industry legends such as Lorne Lanning and new players in the field like Relentless and Media Molecule, the author delves beneath the surface of the games themselves to discuss the process, context, method and motivation behind videogame design.

• The book features concept and process sketches, images from the finished games and offers a rare chance to see the faces behind the games and the environments in which they are made.

• Featured designers include: Frontier Developments (Thrillville, The Outsider), Intoversion (Defcon) Harmonix (Guitar Hero) and Lorne Lanning (Oddworld).

About the author:
Iain Simons curates, talks and writes about videogames and videogame culture for a wide variety of institutions and publications, including The New Statesman, 360, Game Developer, Gamasutra and the website next-gen.biz. In July 2005 he instigated and directed the first videogame culture weekend at the National Film Theatre, London, and is currently creative director of the GameCity Festival.

Sounds like a very interesting book; may have to see if I can obtain a copy somewhere.
Love is all a matter of timing.

It's no good meeting the right person too soon or too late.

If I'd live in another time or place...

...my story might have had a very different ending.
